From The Principal’s Desk

Dear Parents,

The students of Orchids are taught to always “Look Up”, i.e to look up to God for help, strength and reassurance in toils, trials, temptation and troubles. “Lift Up” means every Orchidian, be it student or teacher, have to set for themselves high standards, goals and aspirations in every sphere of life. The school is a place where children are encouraged to say “I see it, I get it,I can do it.” The school where quality matters, we have tried to reflect the multi-colours of learning, adventures, creativities, and positive approach of our young minds through writings and drawings. I hope this effort of our minds will serve as a stepping stone towards the many mile stones we have to cover in the pursuit of excellence. -KAVITA CHATTERJEE

CHILDREN’S DAY

EVENTS

Childhood is about innocence and playfulness. It is about joy and freedom. Children’s Day is celebrated on account of the birth anniversary of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru. He was the first Prime Minister of India and loved kids a lot. Hence, his birthday is celebrated as Children’s Day all across India.

In OISK, we celebrated Children’s Day with lots of joy and fervour. Children came dressed up in colourful clothes which made the entire atmosphere vibrant. They played games in their respective classes. They were handed goodies and a handmade greeting card by the class teacher to make them feel special.

Each child has a unique way of bringing smile to everyone’s face and we at OISK truly acknowledge and appreciate that.

“Children are the world’s most valuable resource and its best hope for future.”

“Our field trips are an opportunity for you to enter into the world of mystical power.’”

At OISK, learning becomes fun through various interactive sessions and activities. All the latest teaching methods are aligned with a dedicated curriculum. Field trips only just form a part of learning techniques adopted at OISK. Field trips become a break from the routine teaching, a classroom supplement for a lesson as also adhering to different learning styles. It also helps children to gain new perspectives.

Field trips were held for Grade 5 to Byculla Zoo, Grade 6 to Kalina Plant Nursery and Grade 7 to the Gateway of India in the month of December. All these trips related to a specific lesson taught in class.

Grade 5 field trip to a zoo empathised the children towards the natural world of flora and fauna. Besides being a fun and safe place to learn, a zoo's paramount purpose is to promote wildlife conservation, a necessary call for today.

Grade 6 field trip to Kalina Plant Nursery acquainted the children to the

different types of shrubs, creepers, climbers, bonsai and trees. They learnt about the different types of soils and their role in an agricultural country. They also understood the importance of trees in a concrete jungle.

Grade 7 field trip organized to the colossal Gateway of India opened an era of history and architecture before the children. Students went back in time and learnt interesting facts about the unique landmark in Mumbai. Bordered by the Arabian Sea, students experienced a page of history in stone.

Educational trips have a major educational element but the impact of these trips extend further. It helps the students to build closer bonds with classmates, experience new environment and apply lessons to the real world. It teaches professionalism through appropriate behaviour in an unknown place.

On an educational trip, the safety of students is by far the most important consideration. OISK follows guidelines to care and protect their children at all times.
