The shift from wood burning industries to coal burning allowed factories to create hotter and more efficient heat to power machines

Higher levels of heat produced better grades of steel and more efficient power for steam engines.

Diffusion of the Industrial Revolution was slowed across Europe by wars and political unrest on the continent

While it took longer for the Industrial Revolution to diffuse to the USA, it grew much faster here.

By 1860, the United Kingdom and the USA were the one and two industrial powers of the world.

The Industrial Revolution coincided with and advanced the other “revolutions”. The Medical and Second Agricultural Revolutions occurred at the same time.

This convergence was a critical factor in the development of the modern world.
