Have you heard of all of t hose devices? I haven't .

Apple 3 (1980)When youre looking for a home computer t hat will probably ov erheat and catch fire, look no further than the

Apple 3. The successor t o the hugely popular A pple 2 (see what they did ther e), this was a huge flop. Also, agenuine fire hazard.

Apple Lisa (1983)The Lisa was actually prett y groundbreaking for its time it was one of the first personal computers to utilisea graphical user inter face (ie: on screen icons), came with a mouse, and could multi-tas k across pr ograms. Alvery impressive for 1983. The $10 t housand price tag was considerably less impressive. In todays terms itequates to approximately $22 thousand. Ouch.

Macintosh Port able (1989)A port able Mac! Sweet... Wait, why do I have these cr ippling back pains? Maybe its because this laptopweights over seven kilos and is larger t han a briefcase. Crapsticks.

Apple Newton (1993)The original iPad. Released in 1993, the Newton w as an all-in-one port able office that could send faxes(remember t hose?), splutter out emails, store your clients details, take notes and ot her relevant stuff.

Anyw ay, its man claim to fame was its ability t o read handw riting (via sty lus input). Unfort unate ly, thisfeature w as less reliable t hen your weed dealer. Also, it cost $1000 bucks.

Macintosh TV (1993)If youre going to release a computer that can display TV signals on the monitor than you wa nna make sure itcan act ually do so. The Macintosh TV was a bit o f a shambles and wat ching TV on it was s lightly less sa tisfyingpoking yourself in the e yes w ith a st ick.

QuickTake (1994)The QuickTakes we re so me of the ve ry firs t digital cameras a vailable on the market , which again points t o

Apples uncanny knack for meeting needs that consumers dont yet know they have. A QuickTake camera waseasy t o use, had a .3 Megapixel resolution (which isnt bad for 1994) , and ranged in price from $600 to $750.

Apple Pippin (1996)A mutant PC/ games consoles hybrid, this was a bit of a mess from the get-go. A pple partnered with Japaneseentert ainment giant Bandai and somewhere along the way things got lost in translation. Released ar ound thesame time as the original Playst ation, this quickly sank without a tr ace, selling fewer t han 45 thousand unitsinternationally.

20th Anniversary Macintosh (1997)Creat ing a deluxe ver sion of your computer t o mark 20 years in the business is all good and well. Chargingnearly $8000 for some pointless spec ial feat ures and a new casing? Not so much.

You can't expect to fire your company's founder, only to hire him back 10 years laterand not have your own built-in jokes.
