User Views and TailoredSummariesUser views are user-defined navigation trees that containreferences to selected items found in the All Itemsnavigation tree. You can create user views to groupcommonly used items and graphics together. You canalso assign user views to particular user groups, such asbuilding security and energy management.

Expanding the capability of user views further, TailoredSummaries use table-based user views to providesummary views of Metasys system items.

Figure 10: Tailored Summary

These summaries consist of sortable rows and columnstailored to contain information of your choosing. TailoredSummaries allow you to view, modify, and commandlarge quantities of similar data in tabular format. Similardata, for example, may be all VAV boxes on a floor of abuilding, showing current temperatures, setpoints, flows, and minimum and maximum settings. Using thisinformation, you can quickly analyze facility operationand troubleshoot for possible problems.

To help you get started with Tailored Summaries, a setof pre-built Summary Definitions can be imported intoyour site. These summary definitions fit into threecategories: Configuration, Diagnostic, and Monitoring. The Device and Network Diagnostics definitions areintended for site administrators. The MechanicalEquipment definitions with links to graphics and Key Pointdefinitions are useful for service professionals.

Tailored Summaries are configurable in the SiteManagement Portal UI.

ReportsReports offer a snapshot view of the current exceptionsituations and summary data in the entire site or selectedarea of the site and allow you to locate points that needattention. You define the reports, and the ADS/ADXdisplays the resulting data in the Report Viewer on theSite Management Portal UI.

The following reports are available:

• Alarm Report—points in the alarm state• Offline Report—devices that do not respond• Disabled Report—alarming that has been disabled• Override Report—operator overridden points• Supervisory Override Report—points with the

Override flag set to True

Reports list all points in the given condition within theselected area or group of points. Conditions can be alarm, offline, disabled, or overridden. The following figure showsan example of an Alarm Report. You can refresh thecompleted report to find any new points since the reportwas run, and you can cancel a report query at any time.

Figure 11: Alarm Report

The Scheduled Reports feature provides a reportingservice on a server that generates summary reportsbased on object lists and report schedules.

Configuring SchedulesThe Schedule feature allows you to define the days andtimes for operational activities such as starting andstopping equipment and changing setpoints. You canschedule activities for one or more days of the week, holidays, or particular calendar dates.

TheMetasys UI provides a graphic representation of thedaily and weekly schedule calendar for editing theschedules. Schedules actually run in a network engineon the network, but you can configure them to sendcommands to equipment throughout the whole buildingor site.

System SecurityThe Metasys system offers secure user access byauthenticating the user name and password of any userwho attempts to connect to the system.

The Site Management Portal UI also supportsauthentication using the Microsoft Active Directory®directory service or a Remote Authentication Dial-In UserService (RADIUS) server. Refer to the SecurityAdministrator System Technical Bulletin (LIT-1201528)for details.

Note: The Metasys Advanced Reporting System doesnot support synchronization with the ActiveDirectory directory service.

When a valid user account has been identified, theconnection is authorized and system access is grantedbased on the access privileges defined by the Metasyssecurity administrator system for the user account.

Access privileges are assigned by system categories andaction sets to individual users or to a group of users withthe same role. System categories define the type ofbuilding equipment and points accessible when operatingthe system. Action sets define the authorized operationlevel. Users may be authorized to only view items or maybe allowed to also acknowledge alarms and issuecommands. At the highest level, users are authorized tomodify system configuration parameters.

In addition to system access privileges assigned to users, you can also assign access to spaces and equipmentserving spaces with the User Authorization feature in theMetasys UI.

The Audit Trail on the ADS/ADX records user activitiessuch as alarm acknowledgment, sending commands, and point modification.

In addition to user authentication, standard IT securitytechnologies (including firewall programs and encodingprotocols) protect the building automation system andnetwork from unauthorized access.

Hypertext Transfer Protocol Secure (HTTPS) with TLS1.2 is now implemented between Metasys components, including the ADS/ADX, Metasys UI, SystemConfiguration Tool (SCT), and network engines. Thisenhancement ensures the highest level of security toprotect your building automation system fromunauthorized users and computer hackers.

Self-signed certificates are installed by default on theADS/ADX. As an option, the customer can apply orpurchase trusted certificates on the ADS/ADX.

One of three new security shield icons are displayed inthe Site Management Portal (SMP), SMP, and ODS UIsto indicate the current level of a connection: trusted,self-signed, or untrusted.

Lastly, you can configure the use of an external Syslogserver to capture messages from the Metasys system.Network engines send audit log entries and eventnotifications to an external, customer-providedindustry-standard Syslog server destination.

ADX with the Metasys AdvancedReporting SystemThe Metasys Advanced Reporting System provideshistorical and configuration data reporting capabilities ina UI that is separate from the Site Management PortalUI. This system allows authorized users to run reports toreview the configuration and performance of theMetasyssystem.

TheMetasys Advanced Reporting System UI allows youto run reports easily and immediately view them in a webbrowser.

The Metasys Advanced Reporting System is availableon ADXs running SQL Server software with SQL ServerReporting Services. The Metasys Advanced ReportingSystem is an option during the ADX installation. Usersare authorized with the Advanced Reporting option in theSecurity Administrator System. For details, refer to theMetasys Advanced Reporting System and EnergyEssentials Help (LIT-12011312).

ADX with Energy EssentialsAn add-on to the Metasys Advanced Reporting System,Energy Essentials provides seven fundamental energyreports that no site should be without. From the EnergyOverview report that displays a high-level view ofnormalized energy use across your site, to the LoadProfile report that graphically presents your daily electricaldemand, stored data is transformed into meaningfulinformation with the Metasys system.

Energy Essentials offers the following seven reports:

• Big Picture Energy• Consumption• Electrical Energy• Production• Simple Energy Cost• Load Profile• Equipment Runtime

Note: Energy Essentials is not supported on a systemwith SQL Server 2016 software.

For details, refer to the Metasys Energy EssentialsCatalog Page (LIT-1900600).

ADX Split ConfigurationThe ADX software and its associated database softwareare often installed on one computer (a unified ADX).However, the ADX also can be installed in a splitconfiguration, which involves installing ADX-relatedsoftware on two computers. Splitting provides enhancedsecurity for historical data. Using the ADX in a splitconfiguration allows you to locate the Metasys systemdatabases behind a firewall, which reduces the risk ofexposingMetasys system data to unauthorized users onthe Internet. The split configuration also allows you tolocate Metasys system databases on an existing SQLServer computer using existing resources (hardware, software, and technical personnel), potentially loweringthe cost of installing and monitoring theMetasys system.

In an ADX split configuration, the computer running SQLServer software is known as the database servercomputer, and it stores historical Metasys system data. The ADX software itself and all required ADXprerequisites reside on a second computer, known asthe web/application server computer. In a splitconfiguration, the SCT must reside on a third computer.Users browse to the web/application server computer tosee system data. The database server computer cannotbe used as a historical data repository by more than oneweb/application server computer.

Note: Cloud-based applications are not available for all sites.
