MISSIONSTATEMENT

ThemissionoftheJohnV.LindsayWildcatAcademyCharterSchoolistocreateandmaintainacommunityoflearnersthatstrivesforindividualexcellence,successandhighpersonalvalues.Wildcat,asaTransferHighSchool,willeffectivelyservetheeducationalneedsofover-aged,under-creditedstudents15to21yearsofageingrades9-12whoareatriskofpersonalfailureduetopoorattendance,disruptivebehavior,criminalactivityandpooracademicachievement.Studentsingrades9-12willbeservedinungradedclassroomsbyastaffthatisdedicatedtocontinuousprofessionalgrowth.Thestaffwillmaintainhighexpectationsforallstudentswillfosteraneducationalenvironmentthatcelebratestherichnessanddiversityofthehumanexperienceandwilldemonstrateacommitmenttomeetingthediverseneedsoftheirstudentsthroughtheuseofinnovativeinstructionaltechniquesandapproaches.TheWildcatAcademystaffwillworkcollaborativelywithcolleagues,students,parents,andthecommunity,tosupportstudentachievement.

KDE3 TargetedInstruction:Basedonstudents’IndividualizedEducationPrograms(IEPs),testscoresandclassroomdata,strugglingstudentsreceivetargetedinstructionandservicefromtheschool’sacademicsupportstaff.Theseservicesareintegratedwithandcomplementtheschool’smentalhealthandcounselingservices.

KDE4 MentalHealthandCounselingServices:Staffpsychologistandsocialworkersareavailabletoallstudents.Servicesincludeindividual/grouptherapyforstudents;staffconsultationandemployeeassistance;parentcounseling;aswellasliaisonandreferraltooutsideagenciesprovidingpsychologicalandsocialservices.Theseservicesareintegratedwithandcomplementtheschool’stargetedacademicinstruction.

KDE5 ExcellentTeachingandTeacherSupport:WildcatAcademyteachersarehighlyqualifiedandexperienced.WildcatAcademyhasinplacearobuststaffdevelopmentplan,whichincludesteacherdrivendevelopmentaswellasthesupportofoutsideconsultants.
