2.4 Project Interventions Description of Project Interventions Use the Guidance Notes to the Application Section 2.4 to identify the eligible project actions. The actions that are eligible under this measure are;

A. Investment in facilities and equipment including both hardware and software with the aim of achieving one or more of the objectives listed here under:

– Improving working conditions;

– Improving and monitoring public health and hygiene conditions or product quality;

– Producing high quality products for niche markets;

– Reducing negative impact on the environment;

– Improving the use of little-used species, by products and waste;

– Producing or marketing new products, applying new technologies, or developing innovative production methods;

– Marketing products mainly originating from local landings and aquaculture

B. Investment in refrigeration vehicles and other r efrigeration equipment necessary for the operations of enterprises operating at wholesale le vel;

C. Investment in health, hygiene and safety measure s; D. Investment in the marketing of products originat ing from local landings and aquaculture E. Investment in the development of brand names for local products.

*The applicant has the right to choose any supplier however the eligible expenditure for a cost item shall be equal to the cheapest of three quotes for that cost item. ** In the case of an appointed Project Manager, the quotations submitted must specify in detail the works that will be carried out, hours dedicated to the project, etc. *** The selected supplier is required to submit a report pertaining to the works involved with every receipt sent for the reimbursement process.

SECTION 3 – Overview of the Evaluation Process 3.1 Selection (Award) Criteria In this section, kindly identify how the company / project fulfills the following criteria. A proposal must meet all the criteria listed in the eligibility section in order to be eligible under this call for proposals.

Economic Criteria Actions A SME Definition according to

the Commission Recommendation 2003/361: Preference will be given to smaller firms.

B Number of years in marketing fish: Preference will be given to applicant organisations which have recently entered the sector.

C Diversification: Preference will be given to investments diversifying into new markets or products.

D New technology: Preference will be given to investments in new technology.

E Sector cohesion (partnership): Preference will be given to investments being proposed jointly by more than one undertaking operating in the sector.[1]

Social Criteria F Gender Equality: Preference

will be given for initiatives to promote gender equality in the fisheries industry.

G Skills: Preference will be given to investments in the training to improve skills of employees.

[1] Undertakings shall provide a list of all shareholders (or equivalent) including their % share. Applications proposed jointly by more than one undertaking must ensure that there is no controlling interest between one undertaking and another or common to more than one undertaking. In such cases such associations will be considered as one firm.

H Health and Safety: Preference will be given to investments creating safer, better working conditions or work practices (investments have to be above the minimum requirements set by law).

Environmental criteria I Renewable energy and Energy

efficiency: Preference will be given to investments which will include investments in alternative natural energy sources or which will improve energy efficiency.

J Positive impact on the environment: Preference will be given to investments which will reduce the adverse impact on resources, environment and habitats.

K Promoting sustainability of stocks/species: Preference will be given to investments which will enhance the sustainability of stocks/species.

SECTION 4 – Supporting Documents Complete Submission – The applicant must present a complete application form, filled in with all relevant

details and documentation, including complete annexes and proof of co-financing. The Evaluation and

Decisions Committee reserves the right to decide the eligibility of projects from applicants who give

compelling reasons for not submitting supporting documentation. All maps, diagrams and drawings, if

submitted, should be of good quality and provide clear information that can be readily understood by those

who are not familiar with the project proposal. A site plan for physical works should be submitted in the case

of projects carrying out interventions that are based or related to infrastructural works carried out by the

applicant3.

4.1. Checklist of Documents Please use the following list of supporting documents to ensure that you enclose all the necessary documents with this application for grant. Please mark the documents you will be submitting together with the application form.
