West Shamokin Football Looks to Bounce Back Against Purchase Line
After suffering their first loss of the season last Friday by the score of 16-12 to Penns Manor and after a lofty 74 penalty yards last week and missing out on two scores, the Wolves are looking to bounce
back against the Purchase Line Red Dragons.Last season, the Wolves were able to get the 28-14 win over
Purchase Line thanks to a big performance from now graduated quarterback Devin Fairman - this year their stable of runningbacks, four of which have over 100 yards in the first two games and their new QB Tyler Lightcap will look to repeat that success.
The Red Dragons got their first win last week over Blairsville by the final score of 35-6 thanks to a 4 TD (3 rushing 1 passing) performance by their QB Shamar Campbell.
The Wolves defense has been performing well in the early go-ing allowing the fourth fewest points in the conference.
Wolves Head Coach Jon McCullough broke down the keys to a successful game this Friday.
“We’re going to need to have another good defensive effort, because they are very dynamic offensively. They run the ball very well and their quarterback Shamar Campbell is a capable passer too so we’re going to have to play some stingy defense,” Mc-Cullough said.
“Offensively we moved the ball pretty well last year, but had some things go against us and we should have had more points on the board. Hopefully we can take another step forward and find the end zone more.”
West Shamokin will be on the road for the first time this season - kick-off is set for 7:00 PM on Friday.
