    Parent reminders:

    *Bedtime caution- some research indicates that the blue light from screens can disrupt sleep patterns.

    Limit use up to 2 hours before bedtime.

    *Joint Media Attention: Use the tech together. Just like reading a book together learning is better

    shared.

    *Not a babysittersometimes it works to keep them quiet, but just like TV, monitor screen time and

    try not to use it as a babysitter

    Educational Use: classic book, vocabulary, reading

    Why I like it: Classic story with added fun. Narration is good, words are highlighted. Extras may make this

    book even more special for those who loved it when younger.

    Need to turn off Multitasking Gestures for it to work properly.

    Educational Use: letter recognition, letter sounds

    Age: 3-6

    Why I like it: A nice introduction to phonics, easy to use. Home screen show the full alphabet so you

    can scroll through or go to a specific letter, which would be useful for storytime or classroom use.

    Price: FREE for iPad, .99 on Android (called Letter Tracing on Google Play)

    Educational Use: Letter recognition, letter sounds, writing practise

    Why I like it: Shows how to make capital & lower case letters, plus numbers. Tracing helps kids learn

    how to write. Settings allow for different colors, in-app purchases can be turned off.
