NAVIGATING THE MCCS JOBApplication Process

by Stephanie Andrews

There are many benefits to working for MCCS, but perhaps one of the biggest is not only the possibility for advancement within the workplace, but the encouragement of it. There's a common thread with the Employee of the Month winners that I've learned of while interviewing them for their Team MCCS spotlights - most started here in a position different than the one they are currently holding. So, how do you advance within MCCS? Of course, always do your current job to the very best of your ability. Then apply for jobs as they become available using the new MCCS application process. First things first, how current is your resume? Whether you need to update it or don't have one at all, building your resume is always a good first step. The Career Resource Office has monthly resume classes that can help you do just that. What are your current skills? What are you especially good at? Professionals on staff assist you with polishing your rough draft resume and promoting these skills. You can also use their resume creation software and plug in your own information. The winter has been a particularly cold one this year. But hang in there, the first day of spring (March 20) is just around the corner. With that, expect things to heat up around the Combat Center in more ways than one. Take advantage of the many ways as an MCCS employee that you can enjoy all the season has to offer.

MCCS prides itself in the recreational activities that you all work so hard to offer to our patrons. There's nothing keeping you from enjoying them yourself in your time off. In fact, we highly recommend it! Sandy Hill Lanes Bowling Center, Desert Winds Golf Course, Sunset Cinema and, of course, all of our amazing special events are all available for you to use and enjoy. Spring brings the return of actor Gary Sinise and the Lieutenant Dan Band. Mark your calendars for March 8 and join us for an evening of good music and fun. Complete details are available at mccs29palms.com.

Spring is also a great time to get active. But wellness is not merely important for you; it's good for the whole family. The MCCS Youth Sports program is open to the children of all MCCS employees and is the perfect outlet to help get your youth involved in healthy activities. This spring, Youth Sports is offering Soccer Camp, Hook a Kid on Golf and other activities that all start soon. Stop by the Community Center or call 830.3380 to find out how your child can participate.

Your service to our military families is making a positive impact on every member of the family. It's my goal that MCCS can also make a positive impact on you.
