Socrates said, “The unexamined life is not worth living.” Strong words. Not, “the unexamined life is not as well lived”, nor, “the unexamined life has less meaning” although both would be included in his statement. No, he says, “not worth living”. Here’s the dilemma; begin examination of your life and you will see, really see, aspects of yourself that you would rather not see. Blind spots get revealed. Ignorance that was once bliss is now just ignorance. Moments that we once thought were filled with meaning and floated beauti- fully, effortlessly, look like the helium balloon the day after. Jesus invites us to real examination of our lives. He invites us to take a long, hard look at who we are, who we have been, who we are becom- ing because he knows something powerful. He knows that who we are, who we have been and who we are becoming is nothing short of miraculous. He knows that we are priceless; that each of us is designed for eternity. He knows when he says, “losing your life is finding your life” that dying to self and living to Life is a process more powerful than splitting the hydrogen atom. And every bit as potentially explosive. Sadly, we have so watered down the genius of Jesus that the metamor- phic moment he has challenged us to becomes little more than slightly altering the way we think about life. The examination of our lives can be daunting. The deeper we look the more we find. The more we find the more we wonder what can be done. This takes faith. The empty tomb of Easter follows the public humiliation, private des- titution, wrongful accusation, heart- breaking abandonment, grizzly beat- ing, and grotesque crucifixion of the God-man. Easter is not just triumph over the grave, life over death. It is Life over everything else. Everything. It is the God-chosen method for the examination and exhumation of life. The One who conquered death and offers Life abundant, the Christ of Easter, is not meant to be a future encounter, “getting us into eternal life.” He is more concerned with getting eternal life into us. Now. We are designed to hold eternity rather than put eternity on hold. The unexamined life has a tendency to put eternity on hold. The exam- ined life with the exhumed Jesus finds relief and restoration for all of life. It is worth living. Pastor Dave The Unexamined Life April 2015

WE WILL BE LOCKING ALL EXTERIOR DOORSTO THE FACILITY EACH DAY UNTIL 2PM FOR ADDED PRESCHOOL SECURITY.

Moments that we once thought were filled with meaning and floated beauti-fully, effortlessly, look like the helium balloon the day after.

Jesus invites us to real examination of our lives. He invites us to take a long, hard look at who we are, who we have been, who we are becom-ing because he knows something powerful. Sadly, we have so watered down the

genius of Jesus that the metamor-phic moment he has challenged us to becomes little more than slightly altering the way we think about life.

The examination of our lives can be daunting. The deeper we look the more we find. The more we find the more we wonder what can be done. This takes faith.

The empty tomb of Easter follows the public humiliation, private des-titution, wrongful accusation, heart-breaking abandonment, grizzly beat-ing, and grotesque crucifixion of the God-man.

The exam-ined life with the exhumed Jesus finds relief and restoration for all of life. It is worth living.

Family PromiseThank you to everyone who vol-unteered their time, talents, and gifts to Family Promise. It has taken many people, for quite some time, to make this ministry a reality! We had the great pleasure to host three families which included 5 adults and 6 preschool age children.

We will have a meeting on April 7th at 7pm at the youth house for all who served and would like to discuss the week and ways we can continue to grow. A survey was e-mailed to all who volunteered during the first week of Family Promise, if you did not receive one please contact Amy Hatton

Be on the lookout for volunteer opportunities to serve the Family Promise families again the week of May 24th.

Please contact me if you have any questions or would like more infor-mation. You can also follow Family Promise Hendricks County online at

PUMC Preschool NewsThere are still openings in our Pre-K and Beginners classes. Please tell your friends and family to stop by or call Sherri to enroll their child for the 2015-2016 school year!

We are winding down the current school year, for April we have Silly Safaris stopping by to visit the Beginners classes. And we have a field trip to F. R.O.G.S for the Pre-K students. It's hard to believe another school year will come to an end in May!

With Sincere Appreciation PUMC,Thank you for your generosity & willingness to open your church for us so that we could hold our Blue & Gold Banquet. It was such short notice and we deeply appre-ciate your kindness. We had 7 Cub Scouts that crossed over into Boy Scouts and each earned their arrow of light awards. Thank you for allowing them to have such a beautiful celebration.

A word of Thanks & AppreciationMethodist Church Family,

Thank you so much for the nice lunch you provided our family before Mother’s service. A special

thanks for all the cards, phone calls, and well wishes you gave Mother this past year. They meant more to her than you will ever know!

Bless You, Lorene Knight – Phyllis’ Daughter
