Welcome to St. Bernard’s Parish Easter Sunday April 20, 2014

OUR MISSION STATEMENT

Expressing our love of Jesus Christ through the Eucharist, enlightened by the Holy Spirit, and by living the will of the Father, we gather as one family, rich in culture and tradition, willing to share our gifts with all, and working together as we journey to the kingdom of God.

Page 2

My Dear People,

The joy of the Lord’s resurrection proclaims to the world that we are an Easter people who have not lost hope. We are a people who trust that God lives in our world and deep within each of us.

No matter what darkness surrounds us, we know that the light of Christ is always shining. We believe that the world can be different because Jesus Christ overcame death and suffering in the glory of resurrection.

Easter inspires and strengthens us to live together in peace and be recon-ciled to one another. Easter calls us to a justice born of returning to God and walking humbly in God’s ways.

May this Easter Sunday be a source of joy and renewed hope for you and your families. May the alleluias we sing lift up our hearts, and give us all great confidence in God.

Warmly yours in Christ, Bishop Stephen E. Blaire Catholic Bishop of Stockton

Dear Parishioners, The Good News of Our Lord Jesus Christ proclaims that God is our Father and we are all brothers and sisters re-deemed at a very great cost. God so loved the world that He sent His only Son who freely laid down His life for us.

May He bestow on you the blessings that bring peace to your soul-the peace that Christ alone can give.

Sincerely yours in Christ, Msgr. Ivo D. Rocha

Second Offering

The Catholic Home Missions Appeal will take place next week. One way that this Appeal works to support mission dioceses here at home is by supporting seminarian formation in poor dioceses. The blessing of seminarians places a financial burden on these dioceses, which educate each seminarian at a cost of $35,000–$40,000 per year. Your support is needed for these young men, so that they can return to serve their parishes. Please strengthen the Church at home by mak-ing a generous gift to next week’s Appeal.

Perpetual Eucharistic Adoration (Adoration Chapel located in Convent behind Church)

“All the angels of heaven gaze in ecstasy at the image left on your soul after each holy hour you make in the presence of Jesus

in the Blessed Sacrament.” (Excerpt from ‘Letters To A Brother Priest’)

To become an adorer or to inquire, call Anita Laspina (English) @ 835-3173 or Cecilia Garcia (Spanish) @ 346-3372.

Morning Social

The role of a mother is one of great privilege; to be chosen to share in a crea-tive miracle and to bring new Saints to heaven. Mothers give of themselves endlessly in the nurturing and education of their chil-dren, that they may be a joy in this world and a glory in the next.

On Mother’s Day, May 11th, all Masses will include the Mass Intention: “All mothers, living and deceased”. Envelopes honoring the names of our mothers will be lovingly placed in a basket near the Altar at the Church and Holy Family Center for the weekend. Their names will also be in the Bulletin. To have your mother remem-bered, living or deceased, please drop by the Parish Of-fice to fill out the Mother’s Day envelope. A donation for each name is appreciated.

The deadline is May 2nd at 5:00pm.

Child Abuse Prevention Internet Safety for Kids

The Internet has become the new schoolyard for child molesters seeking girls or boys to victimize. Internet “chat rooms” provide a teenager with an opportunity to engage in a “live” conversation with friends from school or church, or with other teenagers from around the world. Law enforcement has found that child molesters use chat rooms to gain easy and safe access to teens. Because of the seemingly caring and seductive talent of child molest-ers, teenagers should be warned that when they are in a chat room, they should never provide anyone with pri-vate information, personal information, and especially their specific physical location.

Segundo Ofertorio
