Barksdale Bulletin A P R I L 2 0 1 5
BOSC,
Spring is here! Well, techni-
cally it is here even though it
may not feel like it. Hopefully
the sun will start shining and
the rain will go away and we
can enjoy the spring season.
What a winter!
It seems like it was just a
couple months ago we were
thinking about the first social
of the year and here we are
winding down our year. It
seems this year has flown by.
Hard to believe that our an-
nual auction is just a couple
weeks away. Have you gotten
your tickets? What a fun
evening we have planned. We
hope that you all will be able
to attend. We also have some
volunteer opportunities still
available if you are interesting
in helping. We will need help
with set up and in a few other
areas. If you are interested
please contact Jennifer Atta-
way
How much fun was the
March social? I loved hearing
about everyone's favorite
things. A huge thank you to
the 2 OG spouses for putting
that social together. The April
social is right around the cor-
ner. There is a date and loca-
tion change. The social is
now April 21st at Azalea
Hall on Airline Drive. It is
Designer Bingo and we have
some fabulous designer items!
A sample of some of the de-
signers: Kate Spade, Michael
Kors, Coach, Lilly Pulitzer,
and Vince Camuto. You wont
want to miss it! Watch our
Facebook page for teasers.
Do you have a high school
senior graduating this year?
Are you continuing your edu-
cation? The BOSC scholarship
deadline has been extended.
Applications must be received
by April 30th. More infor-
mation can be found
at www.barksdaleosc.com.
This year’s board year is
winding down which means it
is almost time to elect a new
executive board. Are you in-
terested in serving on the
BOSC executive or general
board? If so, contact Emily
Ozgul
at parliamentarian.bosc@gmai
l.com and let her know what
you are interested in.
Since it is spring, I thought I
would share one of my favor-
ite spring recipes, a Pistachio

you. They hours can be flexible if needed. You may go to the Satellite
(Refill) Pharmacy and ask for MSGT Allejandro or Capt. Antunes to sign
up or ask questions. It you need to call, you may use the Refill Call-in

Membership News Area Concert Band Looking for New Members
The Shreveport Metropolitan Concert Band is always looking for new members. The band

who has played in a band, is able to play. There are no auditions. We rehearse on Mon-
day nights from 7:00 p.m.-9:00 p.m at LSUS. You can check us out online. If you are in-
terested, you may call the director, Allen Swilley at 560-3901 or you may call me (Melody

BOSC 2014-15 Proposed Social Calendar
Apr. 21th, 6:30 PM
May 13
th, 10:30 AM
Ingredients
1 (5 oz.) can evaporated milk 2 (1 oz.) squares semi-sweet choco-
late 1/4 stick butter 2 eggs 1 1/4 cups sugar 1 tsp vanilla extract 12 unbaked (3 inch) tart shells
Chocolate Chess Tarts From Janet Fisher at the Gourmet Club
Directions
Preheat oven to 350 F. Combine milk, chocolate and butter in a small sauce-pan over low heat. Stir frequently until the chocolate and butter are completely melted. Cool slightly. Combine eggs and sugar in a mixing bowl. Add the chocolate mixture and vanilla, stirring until well blended. Place the tart shells on a baking sheet. Pour the mix-ture into the tart shells. Bake for 40 minutes, or until the filling sets. Cool on a wire rack.
Ingredients
2/3 cup heavy cream (whipping cream)
1 tsp. each of vanilla extract, brandy and Grand Marnier Or-ange liqueur
1/4 cup sugar 2 Tbs. sour cream
Chantilly Cream
Directions
Refrigerate a medium sized bowl and beaters until very cold. Combine cream, vanilla, brandy and Grand Marnier in the bowl and beat with an electric mixer on medium speed for one minute. Add sugar and sour cream and beat on medium just until soft peaks form, about 3 minutes. Do not over beat. NOTE: Over beating will make the cream grainy, which is the first step leading to butter. Once grainy, you can-not return the cream to its former consistency. If this ev-er happens, enjoy it on toast!
