April 2015 Newsletter
Shown in the photo from Left to Right, Nicholas Marti, 7-12 Principal, Anthony Marinack, District Administrator, Michelle Conley, parent and recipient of Monsanto Grant, John Conley, 6th Grade Student, Amiee Conley, 8th Grade Stu-dent in the Pre-Algebra Block Class, Dawn Byrum, Teacher of the Pre-Algebra Block Class, Doug Gray, Monsanto Dis-trict Sales Manager, and Bob Conley, parent.
Michelle Conley selected the 7-12 Block Math Classes as the primary recipients of her $2,500 Monsanto Grant that she was chosen to receive as part of a wonderful em-ployee/spouse opportunity offered by Weekly Farms. We
are so honored that she tabbed this very powerful program within our school as the beneficiary of this most generous grant.
The Math Block classes were added to the Math Course Offerings in 2013 when the 7-12 Math teachers saw a need to create a course for struggling math students in grades 7-12. This initiative has increased student success, student attitude, and student confidence in Math Classes. The courses are held over a two period time frame, which allows for partner work, group work, individual work, combined with a large technology component for enrichment and enhancement of the lessons that are delivered. The money will be used to purchase additional technology to be used in the Block Classes, but will also prove to be great resources for students throughout our entire math program. It is definitely a gracious gift that will be appreciated by many students today, tomorrow, and in the future across several grade levels.
A Great BIG THANK YOU to Michelle Conley
Do you remember our #1 Fan? Don Wallner passed away and requested his memorials go to the

EARLY CHILDHOOD NEWS
From Mrs. Laspa
The Early Childhood Program is a program for children 3-5 years of age who have an identified
need which requires individualized instruction. This program provides children with meaningful
concrete hands-on experiences which are fundamental to the way a young child learns. The Early
Childhood Class has been busy making projects and learning new songs. We are also learning new
games when we go into the gym and enjoying stories in the library.
4K FUN!
From Mrs. Jensen & Mrs. Laspa
It’s April already! How did that happen so quickly? The 4K has had a very busy school year so
far. We have learned many new skills, including following the school routine and making new
friends. The children enjoy exploring the learning centers in our rooms as well as making pro-
jects and singing songs. We are learning to use a Smartboard, which is a large interactive white
board that is linked with a computer. We can hear stories, print words and numbers, color, play
games, and learn many new skills. We are also having great fun in the library and the gym.
We’ve enjoyed lots of exciting activities this year including Family Fun Nights and Family Read-
ing Night. This spring we will be watching caterpillars change into butterflies and taking a field
trip to the school forest. In June, we will celebrate with a 4K graduation ceremony.
Our Year is moving right along!

From one of our substitute teachers: I have been substitute teaching at Tri-County schools for the last 2 years
and I just wanted to say that I really enjoy doing it! Though it is unfortunate for the teachers that are sick or their
family members that are, I have enjoyed being in the classrooms here. The other teachers are so friendly and wel-
coming, even though I did not grow up here and am new to the community. I actually live in Wild Rose and drive
16 miles to come to work here, but to me it is well worth the drive. I enjoy getting in all the different classrooms
and seeing how each of the teachers run their "show" uniquely. You have a great bunch of teachers here and can
be assured that they do a wonderful, heartfelt job of training your children. Lastly, I would like to say, if you are
looking for a job and enjoy being around young people (they Do keep you young!) then you might consider being
a substitute teacher as well.
Have a great day and THANK-YOU Tri-county!

WINTER FUN AT T-C
On Friday, February 6 TC's Environmental Education Team led
our annual great outdoor adventure field trip that has become a
wonderful tradition for many of our 7-12 students. Cross-
country skiing, snowshoeing, football, volleyball, various camp-
ing "toss" games, and, of course, an outstanding cookout were
all part of the afternoon. Thank you to Mr. Raboin and our EE
Team, as well as Mrs. Biesek, Mr. Booth and Mr. Franz for all
of their prep work in making this afternoon a possibility! Mr.
Marinack, Mr. Marti, and Mrs. Marti stopped in to participate in
the fun.
Maybe a retirement
snow face wash? They
wouldn’t do that?
I guess SO!
Was this one of the
toss games?
Must be!

The boys improved their record this season, in fact they doubled the number of wins this season. Coach Feldman has seen improve-
ment and there were some very close games that should of constituted a Penguin Victory.
The lady Penguins finished 2nd in Conference Play and went
on to be beaten in the Regional Championship game against
#2 State Qualifier Assumption High School from Wisconsin
Rapids. Overall record was 19 wins and 6 losses.

Brandon Peckham received 1st
Team All-Conference, and Tyler
Kramer received 2nd Team All-
Conference.
Brandon Peckham, Tyler Kramer, and Eric
Buechner pictured here were all qualifiers for
Sectionals.
Well another season in the books, and we had some success and looking to more in
the future. Brandon Peckham took first at conference as a Freshman. Tyler Kramer
took 2nd at conference as a Sophomore. With good expectations for next year. Bran-
don Peckham, Tyler Kramer and Eric Buechner all made the sectional tournament,
so we are looking for better things next year there as well, maybe getting a few to
State. I would like to thank all the wrestlers, coaches and school staff that helped me
along the way this year. I really appreciate all their help and look forward to next
year. Thank you. Bob Woyak.
Middle School wrestlers had a successful season of learning and
improving. You could see the improvement as the season went on.
Ryan Applebee qualified for State Youth in Madison on March 28.
We want to thank Coach Les Kramer for his years of service.
Middle School boys basketball was
challenged by multiple injuries and lack
of numbers of athletes. They worked
hard on basics and Coach Femal saw
improvement.
Middle School girls basketball had enough players
and were challenged by their size. The girls did win a
few games this year and worked very hard on ball
handling skills. Coach Stillman also saw improve-
ment.

Emily Betro, 9th grade, is
a wonderful student who
strives to do her best.
Mr. Pieper said she dem-
onstrates a high level of
personal responsibility
and self-discipline. She
works well with her peers
and is a positive aspect of
the T-C community. Mr.
Mesyk said that daily she
tries to improve her un-
derstanding in Algebra
through asking good
questions and correcting
her errors. Her good
grades are a testament to
her outstanding effort.
10th grader, Adam Zahrt, has
shown growth since the first se-
mester of the school year. Ms.
Stillman said he really seems to
take more care and pride in the
work that he does. She hopes to
see him continue to grow and
serve as a role model for other
students.
Sarah Lauer, 11th
grade, is a very consis-
tent and willing to
learn student in Ge-
ometry, according to
Mr. Mesyk. She brings
a positive attitude to
class daily and has an
enjoyable sense of hu-
mor.
12th grader, Juan
Landeros, has made major
improvement in his daily
effort and focus when it
comes to his classwork and
participation, said Mr.
Mesyk. He has an engag-
ing personality and gets
along well with students
and teachers alike.
8th grader, Haley Kramer, is a
mature young lady who offers
valuable insight and perspective
to classroom discussions said Mrs.
Clark. In addition, her outgoing
personality and positive attitude
make her an outstanding leader in
and out of the classroom.
Brianna Phillips, 7th
grade, is always trying to
help others in the class-
room, according to Mrs.
Krummel. Brianna never
forces her ideas on others
and is willing to hear oth-
ers points of view. She is
a truly caring individual.
Tri-County NHS Conducts Pennies for Patients
Under the direction of the Tri-County NHS, high school im-
pact periods participated in the Pennies for Patients program
again this year. Impact periods have three weeks to try to
collect as much money, usually spare change, to contribute
to the Wisconsin Chapter of the Leukemia and Lymphoma
society to aid in the fight against childhood cancers. This
year was an outstanding year for Tri-County, as students
were able to collect a total of $460. Top impact periods were Mr. Knuth's which collected
$73, Mr. Raboin's with $82, and Mr. Mesyk's impact period which collected a truly impres-
sive $166. Raising this much money to help others is a wonderful demonstration of the
good character of our school community. Nice job Tri-County!
