April 2016
March has been busy for the Community and Seniors Program. Gentle Chair Exercises,Tai
Chi,Craft , Healthy Minds, Bingo and a Jumble Sale are some of the activities that have been
happening.I have been working with Tina Johnston from Quilpie HACC Services and we are
pleased with the attendence levels at all of the Community Activities Programs. The Outback
Seniors Games are happening on Friday 27th May 2016. The theme this year is “A Healthy
Heart” which may be depicted through dress, a ditty or a song. Tina and I are organising
practice mornings on a Thursday for the seniors that are taking part in the games.
Craft Activities
The Seniors Craft Group have been making table decorations for their St.
Paddy’s Day luncheon. They made place mats out of coloured cardboard
,pictures , glitter glue and then they were laminated. They also made lolly
baskets out of serveittes. A few pots of gold made from cardboard and a
paper chain to hang them from. Seniors had a enjoyable time making sock bunnies for
Easter. There was lot’s of laughter as each bunny turned out totally different to each
others.Craft Afternoons are popular as some of the ladies have commented it’s nice to come
along and have a laugh, chat, cuppa and do some craft and leave all your troubles behind.
Jane Tully has returned to Brisbane for more treatment and our thoughts and
prayers are with her.

A big Thank you to Carolynn Taylor for water exercise lessons
at the pool on Thursday mornings. With the cooler weather

A LITTLE HUMOUR
Bragging about Son
Three old ladies are sitting around a table playing bridge and bragging about their sons.
“My Freddie,” said Margaret, “Everyone should be so lucky to have a son like my Freddie. Once a
week he brings me a huge bouquet of flowers, he’s constantly bringing me out to restaurants to eat,
if I so much as hint that I want something the next morning it’s on my doorstep.”
“That’s very nice about your Freddie”, says Gertrude. “But with all due respect, when I think about
the way my Sammy takes care of me, it just can’t compare. Every morning as soon as I wake up he
greets me with bacon and freshly brewed coffee. Every lunch he comes over and cooks me a
gourmet lunch, and every supper he brings me to his house for supper, he truly treats me like a
queen.”
“WELL!” Says Barbara “I don’t want to make any of you feel bad or anything, but wait until you hear
about my Harry, twice a week he pays someone $200 an hour just so he can lie on their couch and
talk to them, and who do you think he speaks about at those prices? Asks Barbara with a big excited
double chin smile, “I’ll tell you who he speaks about! ALL HE SPEAKS ABOUT IS ME!”
Inferiority Complex
Harry was thrilled. After seeing a psychologist for over three years, he was finally pronounced free
to go. “Wow this is so exciting you mean I am finally cured?!” Questioned Harry excitedly, “You
mean I no longer have an inferiority complex!”
“Well” said the psychologist slowly, “to be perfectly honest with you I don’t think you ever had an
inferiority complex. After much thought I have come to a conclusion. I think you really are inferior!”
SOMETHING TO THINK ABOUT
One thing you can’t recycle is wasted time..
