LEXUS: GS300 / 430 – AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION SHIFTING ISSUES

Injectronics are seeing an increasing number of Lexus GS300 and GS430 Engine Control Units being sent in with transmission shifting issues. The Lexus GS300 and GS430 are equipped with either the A650E 5-Speed or A960E 6-Speed transmission made by Toyota for their Lexus division. There are several areas where the A650E 5-Speed and A960E 6-Speed may exhibit problems.

Technicians are advised to run a scan check on the vehicles ECM (Engine Control Module). The problem may be an issue with the vehicle’s computer. IM Group technicians have performed an extensive investigation into the cause of these faults and have now developed a reliable remanufacturing process to repair these units, a cost effective alternative to OE replacements. Injectronics offer a repair of the customers own unit for the above listed faults. This option also guarantees that no programming is required upon refitting of the unit.

Common Faults Include:• Automatic transmission related fault codes including P0761 (shift solenoid C)• Transmission not shifting into 5th and 6th gear• Harsh downshift from 2nd to 1st gear when slowing down to a stop

Possible Causes Include:• Low transmission fluid level• Dirty transmission fluid• Shift solenoid C valve harness or connectors• Engine Control Module (ECM)

The Heater Integrated Module (HIM), also known as the HVAC is an electronic control module attached to the left side of the HVAC main unit. The HIM consists of a number of small electric motors, electrical connectors, circuit board and a blower motor control heat sink.

These units are fitted to all of the following vehicles:

• Ford Falcon BA – BF series 2002-2011
