Pastor’s Musing A young executive leaving the office one evening noticed his boss standing in front of a shredder with a piece of paper in his hand. Seeing a good opportunity to make

himself look good, he asks, “Can I help you with some-thing before I leave, sir?” “Listen,” said the boss, “this is important and my assistant has already left the office. Can you make this thing work?” “Certainly,” said the young man, certain he was earning some brownie points. The young executive turned the machine on, inserted the paper , and pressed the button. “Thank you,” said the boss, unaware that his paper had disappeared into the paper shredder. “I need two copies

SAINTS AND SPECIAL OBSERVANCES Sunday: Fifth Sunday of Easter; Julian Calendar Palm Sunday Monday: St. Mark Wednesday: Administrative Professionals Day Thursday: St. Peter Chanel; St. Louis Grignion de Montfort Friday: St. Catherine of Siena; Arbor Day; Julian Calendar Good Friday Saturday: St. Pius V

Message from the Pastor W elcome to St. Ambrose ! We are so glad you are able to join us today

to celebrate the Fifth Sunday of Easter. TRUE CHRISTIAN COMMUNITY: Can you imagine a world such as the one put before us in today’s scripture readings? Communities of believers everywhere would support and encourage one another and be identified as Christians by the way they love each other. It would be a world with no tears, no death and mourning, no crying out in pain. “Behold, I make all things new,” we hear the Son of God say in the second reading from the book of Revelation (21:5). Is this world of John’s vision only imaginary? Are these faithful followers for whom Jesus prayed only a savior’s dream? Today they are put before us as a worthy goal. How much closer can we come to this vision of a true Christian community in our lives today? Have a wonderful week—Remember—the most beautiful thing is to see a person smiling; and even more beautiful is knowing that you are the reason behind it!

God’s promises are like the stars; the darker the night, the brighter they shine.

TAKE FIVE FOR FAITH: Daily Renewal for Busy Catholics

Make your kindness indispensable: We move through our days viewing events of each hour from our limited point of view. This self-at-the-center perspective can make us feel indispensable to the action whether it’s family life, our contribution at work, or our place at the parish or in the neighbor-hood. While we may feel that little can go on without us, history proves us wrong about that. In a little side story in Acts, a generous woman named Dorcas demonstrates what the world really can’t do without! Peter is obliged to bring her back to life to renew her service. Be indispensably kind.

Saint Ambrose Catholic School News Lisa Dodge, Principal

Our first recipient of the Pinnacle Award for Saint Ambrose School is Nicole Borowski. Nicole always strives to do her best in every aspect of her life. This unflagging persistence places her at the top of her class academi-cally. Her teachers describe her as well behaved, respect-ful, and always willing to help other students. Nicole is a member of the school’s chapter of the National Junior Honor Society, and plays soccer and volleyball for the Saint Ambrose School’s teams. Nicole reflects her

Christian values in all of her interactions and is considered a role model for her peers. She has served the church community in her time at our school as an altar server. In an attempt to broaden her world-view, she has attended classes to learn about the Polish culture. Nicole’s outstanding qualities make her a worthy and deserving candidate for this year’s Pinnacle Award. When one hears the words well-mannered, respectful, and humble, their thoughts are immediately directed to Noland Cambridge. His dogged determination in the face of difficult tasks has warranted his ascension to the top of his class academically. When Noland is recognized for his hard work and effort, he remains genuinely humble, a trait that is hard to come by. He is always willing to help a fellow classmate with any problem, and is respected and well-liked by his peers and the faculty. Noland is not only an exemplary student, but also an active one as well. He is member of the National Junior Honor Society and was elected the President of Student Council. He also participates in the athletic program at Saint Ambrose, on the school’s basketball and soccer teams. Through his humble demeanor and note-worthy effort, Noland is a wonderful representative for our school as he accepts his Pinnacle Award. Juan Bouzas joined the Saint Ambrose family in the 2014-2015 school year and has worked hard to overcome a language barrier while he has been here. Through his efforts, he has achieved much success academically, especially in writing and strengthening his reading comprehension skills. His hard work and dedication to his studies has captured the attention and the admiration of his teachers and the administration. Juan is a fine young man who is always respectful, considerate of others and very aware of others' needs. He is always willing to lend a helping hand or to help a fellow student with a question. He reflects the Christian values daily in his life by his actions. Saint Ambrose School is proud to have Juan as a actively contributing member of the school community, and is excited to have the opportunity to nominate him for the Pinnacle Award.

APRIL IS CHILD ABUSE PREVENTION MONTH Cyber-Bullying: Protecting Young People from Technology Dangers Part II Excerpts from Virtus bulletin by Robert Hugh Farley, M.S. What can you do? A caring adult should always refrain from the knee jerk reaction of immediately banning a victim’s access to instant messaging, e-mail, social networking sites, a cell phone, or the Internet. This strategy neither addresses the underlying conflict, nor does it eliminate current or future instances of cyber-bullying victimization. It also

punishes the victim and not the offender. I may also close the open lines of communication that a parent has with their child. (Rather) talk with your children and encourage them to be cautious opening any emails unless they are familiar with the sender… If your child receives …message that is hurtful…tell them to never respond to it. Responding…frequently only causes the bullying to escalate. (Instead it should be saved and tell a trusted adult.) If a child feels threatened with harm, the police should be notified immediately. April is Child Abuse Prevention Month. The Archdiocese of Miami runs one of the most robust awareness and prevention programs in the country. For more information contact the Safe Environment Office at 305-762-1250.
