Choosing Your Kayak Aquaglide® Kayaks are lightweight, durable, portable, and most importantly, performance-oriented. These attributes make them ideally suited for recreational paddling, touring and adventure travel. Why limit yourself with roof racks and cumbersome storage when you can have all the performance benefits of a top quality kayak stored in a backpack that travels with you? But with so many types of boats, choosing the right kayak to fit your lifestyle can be a daunting task.

STEP 1: Choose Function(s)The first step in choosing a boat is to determine what type of paddling you'd like to do. Most boats easily cover different types of paddling, but envisioning how you will use the boat can will help narrow the choices. Try picking your top 1-3 Functional performance categories from the list below. Compare these to the Functional charts for each series to help find a good match. STEP 2: Choose SizeThe next step is to choose a size. Sizing is a very personal choice, again determined by how you intend to use the boat. Do you need room for two or even three people? Are you a solo paddler? Choosing the right boat means considering how much space you want for paddlers and for gear. A tall solo paddler may choose a two-person model for better leg-room. A solo touring paddler may prefer a tandem size for increased gear capacity and space for the occasional guest. Stepping up in size increases your options because Aquaglide® seating can be easily re-configured to suit different needs.

STEP 3: Consider Attributes (optional)If your choice is already made, comparing attributes may be an unnecessary detail. However, going a step beyond the general functionality and sizing of a boat to compare the specific attributes described on the next page can help cinch the decision between two similar boats. Each boat features an attributes chart to help convey its strengths.

Polyester XP™ ConstructionRugged 600d polyester cover provides comfort, performance and excellent UV protection for 24 gauge internal PVC bladders. Aquaglide® Touring Deck Covers are ideally suited for paddling in colder climates or for any customer preferring a traditional closed-deck boat. Designed to fit both the Chelan™ HB and Columbia™ XP Series, Touring Deck Covers are made from rugged 600 denier polyester and supported with rigid fiberglass battens for a nicely domed shape that repels water easily.

Touring Deck Covers can be left in place permanently, or installed/removed in a matter of minutes. They include many

thoughtful features like a vinyl map pocket and Inflatable cockpit coamings which help to keep water out. Touring Deck Covers include everything necessary for quick installation and can be used with a kayak skirt if needed. Skirt not included.

Made from the best quality drop-stitch material with extra “Powerstrip” reinforcements, Cascade boards should be inflated to 14 - 18 psi, which

makes them incredibly stiff for the most efficient paddling experience. Fins can be exchanged with ease due to the incorporation of the US fin box which is the stiffest interface on the market.

The Cascade 10’0” uses 4” thick drop-stitch material to save weight and cost. Great for kids and light to medium weight paddlers. By stepping up to the 10’6”, you get the added stiffness that 6” drop-stitch material gives you, plus enough volume to float anyone up to 230 pounds. The 12’6” includes the 6” drop-stitch material, a narrow nose and a lot of extra length to improve tracking, speed, and stability for riders of all sizes.

Cascade™ Technology

The inflatable technology used in our Cascade series starts with high quality, high density drop stitch material that is rated for pressures up to 18 psi. High pressure is key to making these boards perform as close as possible to hard-shell boards. It is then reinforced with layers of PVC for extra stiffness and durability, and fitted with a diamond groove EVA deckpad. The cascade series also features a US fin box, which improves stiffness and interchangeability, allowing it to accept the most popular replacement fins on the market.

IMPULSE™ SUP

The Aquaglide Impulse series offers an economical way to get into the sport, with several practical features that make them great for sharing with friends and family. There are three sizes, each designed with stability and easy access in mind. The 9’6” is a really fun little board that spins on a dime. It gives you a surprising amount of floatation for its size, yet is still light and easy to handle on and off the car. The 11’0” is the most popular size, as it works for all but the very biggest paddlers. This is the sure bet to have at the lake cabin for everyone to use. The 12’0” incorporates a piercing displacement bow for a smoother ride in chop, and better tracking and speed. This is great for paddlers who might want to step it up and go for longer sessions and cover more distance.

Impulse™ technology uses a lightweight EPS foam core, reinforced with wood stringers and hand laminated with fiberglass for stiffness and durability. The bottom is finished with a durable epoxy composite skin, while the whole deck is finished with diamond-cut PE foam deckpad, with durable EVA foam rails. EVA foam bumpers are integrated into the nose and tail. The Pilot board uses this same process, except the bottom skin is a sheet of IXPE slick skin.
