Play Englewood Parks & Recreation 24 Englewood Accelerated Swimming PRESCHOOL PRIMERS MALLEY RECREATION CENTER Preschool Swimming Ages 3 to 5 years old Seahorse This class is recommended for preschoolers with little or no experience in the water. Going under water, blowing bubbles, floating and kicking with support are introduced. Seal Children entering this class must be comfortable going under water, blowing bubbles and floating with support. Swimmers will improve breathe control, balance and body position. Goal: Independent floating, kicking and breathing across pool. Otter Children entering this class must be able to do 10 bobs (blow bubbles), float on front & back 5 seconds and flutter kick on front & back 10 meters independently. Balanced body rotation and side breathing drills will be introduced and refined. School Aged Swimming Youth ages 6-14 years old Stingray Swimmers with limited experience or basic skills should start here. Swimmers will improve breathe control, balance and body position leading to independent floating, kicking and breathing across pool. Dolphin Swimmers entering this class must be able to do 10 bobs (blow bubbles), float on front and back 5 seconds and flutter kick on front and back 10 meters independently. Swimmers will improve balanced body rotation and additional side breathing and kicking drills will be introduced and refined. Swordfish Swimmers must be able to do 15 bobs, flutter kick on front and back 25 meters, perform balanced side breathing and kicking drills 10 meters and skating drill with & without shark fin arms 10 meters (basic freestyle drill). Freestyle and backstroke skills are developed and dolphin kicking and breathing drills are introduced. Barracuda Swimmers entering this class must be able to do 30 bobs, freestyle and backstroke 25 meters, elementary backstroke arms 25 meters and dolphin kick with breathing 10 meters. Butterfly and breaststroke drills will be introduced and refined. Swimmers will achieve greater distances of freestyle and backstroke. Sharks Swimmers entering this class must be able to perform freestyle and backstroke 50 meters, sidestroke and elementary backstroke 25 meters, and breaststroke and butterfly 15 meters. Swimmers completing this class will have all the skills necessary to swim for fitness, join a swim team, or take lifeguard training. AQUATICS SAFETY Our swim lessons teach life saving skills. Our lifeguards are highly qualified, E&A Lifeguards. We are committed to drowning prevention and make lessons affordable to anyone. SWIMMING Swim lessons build confidence. Kids who swim get the benefits of participating in an individual AND team sport. Swimming develops the whole child, physcially, intellectualy and emoitionally. HEALTH Swimming workout is a great total body workout. In swimming, a whole lot of muscles are working together as your kids are pushing, pulling and kicking their way through the water.

BarracudaSwimmers enteringthis class mustbe able to do 30bobs, freestyleand backstroke 25meters, elementarybackstroke arms 25meters and dolphinkick with breathing10 meters. Butterflyand breaststroke drillswill be introduced andrefined. Swimmerswill achieve greaterdistances of freestyleand backstroke.
