Preschool Swimming Ages 3 to 5 years old
Seahorse This class is recommended for preschoolers with little or no experience in the water. Going under water, blowing bubbles, floating and kicking with support are introduced.
Seal Children entering this class must be comfortable going under water, blowing bubbles and floating with support. Swimmers will improve breathe control, balance and body position. Goal: Independent floating, kicking and breathing across pool.
Otter Children entering this class must be able to do 10 bobs (blow bubbles), float on front & back 5 seconds and flutter kick on front & back 10 meters independently. Balanced body rotation and side breathing drills will be introduced and refined.
School Aged Swimming Youth ages 6-14 years old
StingraySwimmers withlimited experienceor basic skills shouldstart here. Swimmerswill improve breathecontrol, balance andbody position leadingto independentfloating, kicking andbreathing across pool.
DolphinSwimmers enteringthis class must be able to do 10 bobs (blowbubbles), float on frontand back 5 secondsand flutter kick onfront and back 10meters independently.Swimmers willimprove balancedbody rotation andadditional sidebreathing andkicking drills willbe introduced andrefined.
SwordfishSwimmers must beable to do 15 bobs,flutter kick on frontand back 25 meters,perform balancedside breathing andkicking drills 10meters and skatingdrill with & withoutshark fin arms 10meters (basic freestyledrill). Freestyle andbackstroke skills aredeveloped anddolphin kicking andbreathing drills are introduced.
BarracudaSwimmers enteringthis class mustbe able to do 30bobs, freestyleand backstroke 25meters, elementarybackstroke arms 25meters and dolphinkick with breathing10 meters. Butterflyand breaststroke drillswill be introduced andrefined. Swimmerswill achieve greaterdistances of freestyleand backstroke.
SharksSwimmers enteringthis class must be ableto perform freestyleand backstroke 50meters, sidestrokeand elementarybackstroke 25 meters,and breaststroke andbutterfly 15 meters.Swimmers completingthis class will have allthe skills necessary toswim for fitness, joina swim team, or takelifeguard training.
