Installing the plug-‐in This document will show you how to install the Showcase 2013 Augmented Reality Plug-‐in. The steps below assume you already have Autodesk Showcase 2013 or Autodesk Showcase Professional 2013 installed on your machine.
1. Uninstall previous versions – If you have installed a previous version of the plug-‐in you will need to uninstall before installing the latest version. You can do this by going to your start menu, selecting Control Panel > Programs > Uninstall a Program. Select ARPlugin from the list of programs and click the Uninstall button.
2. Download and Run the Installer – After you have downloaded the plug-‐in from the Autodesk Labs website, unzip and open the folder x64 (for 64-‐bit systems) or x86 (for 32-‐bit systems). Click on the setup.exe to run the installer. It may take a few seconds before you see the install dialog while the installer verifies you have Showcase 2013 installed on your machine.
3. Verify the location of Autodesk Showcase 2013 install directory – Once the installation dialog appears, it will ask you to verify the location of Showcase 2013 install directory. Click the Next button to proceed after you verify the location displayed is correct.
4. Install the Plug-‐in – Click the Next button and follow the remaining steps to install the plug-‐in. You will need to agree to the license terms before you can proceed with the plug-‐in installation.
Verifying the Installation If the plug-‐in installed correctly you should see a new menu item named “AR Mode” at the top right of the Showcase file menu items.
Troubleshooting the Installation -‐ Adding the Plug-‐in Manually If the Augmented Reality Plug-‐in did not install correctly, you can still manually add it using the Add-‐in manager.
1. Open the Add-‐in Manager -‐ Go to File > Add-‐in Manager. This is where you will see a list of added plug-‐ins. If the plug-‐in installed correctly you should see the item ARPluginCustom in the list of loaded plug-‐ins. If the plug-‐in did not install correctly or is not loaded, the following steps will show you how to add it manually.
2. Add the plug-‐in manually from the Add-‐in Manager -‐ Click the “Add” button from the Showcase Add-‐in Manager dialog and navigate to C:\Users\your user name here\Documents\Autodesk Showcase 2013.
3. Adding ARCustomPlugin.pyo -‐ From the Locate Add-‐in dialog, choose “Python Object Files (*.pyo) from the file dropdown, then select the file “ARCustomPlugin.pyo” from the list of .pyo files. Click the open button to add it to the Add-‐ins manager.
4. Verify the Plug-‐in loaded -‐ You should now see an item named ARPlugnCustom in the list of add-‐ins and the status should show as Loaded. You may need to restart showcase if the plugin displays in the list but has not loaded.
