Biography

Born July 23, 1931 in Oita, Kyushu, Japan

Education 1954: University of Tokyo, Department of Architecture

in the Faculty of Engineering Apprenticed with architect Kenzo Tange (1954-63)

Established Arata Isozaki & Associates in 1963, thebase from which he has continued to work eversince.

INTRODUCTION

This building was the firstto be built on theexpansion of the masterplan of The Education Citywhich is a 2,500-acrecampus on the outskirts ofDoha, and hosts branchcampuses of some of theworld‘s leading universities,as well as numerous othereducational and researchinstitutions.

It consists of a liberal artand science department,for first and second yearcollege students.

QATAR is a small country located on a peninsula protrudinginto Persian Gulf. The site is in relation to Islamic tradition

Classroom and Flexible Learning Area(FLA) enclosed by glass walls. Sightlines are controlled by aluminumshades. Natural light from the skylightsis reflected into the space usingreflectors
