WORD OF LIFE: Blessed Pope John Paul II discussed radical secularism almost two decades ago when he visited Baltimore and stated, “The challenge facing you, dear friends, is to increase people’s awareness of the importance for society of religious freedom; to defend that freedom against those who would take religion out of the public domain and establish secularism as America’s official faith…And it is vitally necessary, for the very survival of the American experience, to transmit to the next generation the precious legacy of religious freedom and the convictions which sustain it.” ~ Archbishop William E. Lori, Archbishop of Baltimore, Address “Let Freedom Ring,” given May 24, 2012

God doesn’t work alone. From the beginning God engaged others in the works of creation and salvation: Adam named the animals, Noah built the ark, Abraham and Sarah birthed a people, Moses led them to freedom. Prophets, priests, and kings – all were given jobs. Jesus did – and does – the same with his disciples.

RCIA. If you are looking to develop a personal relationship with Jesus, a community where you can belong, worship experiences, knowledge about the Catholic Church, service opportunities, or sacraments. Look no further. Call Mrs. Joyce Politte at 573-438-3213 or 573-438-3973 or Mrs. Mary Ann Pratt at 573-438-6181. Meaning, or merely a mouthful? As humans we all know how easy it is to stray from God’s will. Sometimes it seems we wander from the path no matter how hard we try. Perhaps that’s why Jesus sent His apostles out in society to call people to repent, not just believe. Jesus knew that we can only have peace of soul when we are in harmony with God. In fact the first step in any true believer’s relationship with God is repenting. Giving up our will, our sinful ways and taking that long hard road to walk back to Him. Without that, belief is merely a mouthful of words, without any valid meaning. Take a moment to consider your life today. Are you shouting your belief from miles away from God - or kneeling in repentance at His feet? NEEDED: The Blanket Ministry is in need of new or gently used solid color flat sheets or fabric that can be used for lining for their lap quilts. If anyone can donate please drop them off at the Rectory office. Thank You! PLEASE MAKE PLANS to attend our July 26th Feast Day celebration with Archbishop Carlson at 7 pm. It will be the first visit of Archbishop Carlson to our parish! We would love to “fill our church” with all our wonderful parishioners! A reception will follow in the school hall to which everyone is invited. Flowers for the Altar. Fresh Flowers are always a welcomed addition to our church altar. In many parishes, parishioners provide the fresh cut flowers from their gardens to decorate the altar, or they purchase them from a local florist. Families are invited to provide plants or fresh cut flowers for the altar in Church one weekend of the month. For more information or to sign up call the rectory at 438-6181. This week’s flowers are provided by the Ladies Auxiliary of the Knights of Columbus in memory of their deceased members.
