Throughout the academic period…

...I have participated in nomerous activities in order to increase my knowledge about different architectural fields.

In workshops as Architectural Projects Workshop by Eduardo Arroyo in 2006; Cerartec_07. Architecture, ceramics and Technology Workshop in 2008; Architectural Projects Workshop by Andrés Jaque in 2008; and PH_05 Inhabited Landscapes with Aranea’s group in 2009.

In courses focused on software training of producing renders and edition and post-production of videos on purpose of architectural idea diffusion.

Within professional field...... I have collaborated in various studies and working groups.

In 2007 by means of a training course for students I became part of the architectural studio SARQ and col-laborated in projects such as Alzheimur Center (Murcia, Spain) and Villa Afal (Soria, Spain).

Throughout my Final Project, I also developed a research article together with the Architectural Construc-tions Department of University of Alicante and AMHIEC (History Museum Association of El Campello) entitled ‘El Campello. Characterization of construction materials of caves in ancient fishing port’.

Once my academic period was finished, in July 2011, I became part of the architectural studio COR & Partners, where I had the opportunity of participating in projects of public works as New administrative and training headquarters of the Confederation of Employers of Albacete (Albacete, Spain), Music Hall and Auditorium in Algueña (Alicante, Spain); of single-family dwelling as Restoration of an apartment in Paris; of multi-family dwelling as The Apartment Building in Pinoso (Alicante, Spain); and in several tenders. At the same time, throughout this period, I have been collaborating in Architects without Borders in basic housing projects in Central America.

Architect graduated at Superior Technical College of University of Alicante, Spain. Specially trained in restoration field as consequence of interest and of having done subjects as Restoration Techniques, awarded distinction and having participated in courses as Architectural Restored Heritage, given by the mentioned university.

P01_Apartment restoration in Paris

This project is located in the city centre of the French capital, near the Gare du Nord Station, in a XIX century four storey building.

The apartment has a high ceiling together with an interesting opportunity of lighting thanks to its huge windows on both sides. On the other hand, one more detail to be kept in mind is that the number of users of this house changes continuously. For this reason, we must think of a flexible space which allows a relation among the different levels of lighting.

Considering these initial data, we decide to relocate every single room by attaching a special importance to the living room. This room becomes a flexible space by adding mobile bookshelves. Thanks to this solution, the size of this room changes and, in case of necessity, an additional room could be created.

Finally, with the aim of strengthening the lighting of the apartment, a sliding dividing woodwork, inside the party walls, is chosen. This movement allows converting an open and fluid space into a sharp space defined by the hermetecism of its uses.

The main determinant of this project is the characteristics of the plot. It is a piece of land in a corner which size is 37,2 x 7,7 m. The minor facade is on one of the main avenues of the town and the general urban development plan allows us to build up to three floors and a penthouse.

Considering these circumstances, we aim to convert this limitation into an opportunity by choosing to prioritize the development of the main facade. Of course, we must always consider the economical feasibility besides the design limitation, for this reason we tried to include as many houses as possible without losing the quality of spaces.

The final option is a changing facade, with protuding volumes all along. This decision allows us to gain space and establish a dialogue between the project and the observer. These volumes avoid the repetitions and give us the opportunity of play with different types of apartments in every single floor which is basically what provides a great complexity and interest to this project.

P03_Block of flats in Lorca.

The origin of this project is located in La Viña neighborhood, in Lorca, Murcia. The tender asked for a block of flats to shelter 88 families who saw how their old building was demolished because of structural problems caused by the earthquake of 2011.

The proposal, starts from the study of the previous building and seeks a global solution that provides some improvements to houses as well as to common spaces, without moving away from the pre-existing typology.

Regarding the houses, the organization of all of them in three areas (private, public and bathrooms) and the grouping of the plumbing installation in the party walls gives as result multiples possibilities of distribution, depending on necessities of each family. Regarding common spaces, the central patio gains importance since it becomes a green meeting area for the members of the community.

This project is located in the city center of Murcia, around San Esteban’s Palaces, where there is a wide surface of archeological remains corresponding to an Islamic Neighborhood of XIII century.

The tender in which this project takes part seeks the creation of new urban equipment for the complex and hold the necessary activities for its study and touristic installations.

Our proposal seeks the relationship between the activity of present city and the historic stratum of ruins. For this reason, we choose for placing all uses inside a buried perimeter, by leaving free the 0 level in order to establish a visual relationship with the street. This is possible thanks to the level difference between the historical city and the present one.

On the other hand, we designed a roof which gives the new equipment an important urban presence. To achieve this, its height is the same as the adjacent palace. The roof takes the dome as structural element that makes possible the utilization of as few supports as possible.

P05_Kindergarden and reconciliation of working life in Los Alcázares

The piece of allocation of community facilities is located among three roads; it has a triangular plant and an area of 70,000 m2. The site is surrounded by a disjointed sequence of wooded green areas. The expanse of the plot led to the formulation of educational use compatible with the playful and projects, as a result, the nursery school in a gallery of public wooded area.

The program articulates six classrooms, nest, multipurpose room, bedroom, dining room and offices necessary for the suitable development of the activities for which will be assigned.

Inside, the centre is organized into two wings connected by a main entrance that articulates the set of interior spaces with the outdoor patio, so the building is closed to the street and opens into the courtyard, which is embraced and looks for protection the children game and create a unique inner landscape.

The first and the largest of these two wings houses the most of the teaching spaces and those proper use of early childhood as well as offices and dressing rooms. In the second one, there are the catering kitchen and facilities.

We take advantage of the geographical situation and the weather in Los Alcázares, a town located by the Menor Sea, to make the classrooms give onto the yard, so that the noise pollution is filtered and, above all, the space to the outdoors is opened.

P06_Music Hall and Auditorium in Algueña MUCA

The project seeks a building able to bring together all the activities related to music and culture that took place in the Algueña village.

Under these circumstances, there is a proposal of rehabilitating an old Guardia Civil’s quarter that fell into disuse in the 80s, which gives as a result a surface of 670m2, subject to adaptation; and the construction of a new auditorium of 350 m2 and 230 seats.

The new construction is separated from the old by new adapted stairs that are enclosed in two glass boxes lighted from overhead and that try to add fragility to the forcefulness of the whole.

The pre-existing building is rehabilitated without formal changes. Just by recovering the old constructive techniques and turning them white with different grades of shine. Nonetheless, the new hall is proposed as a blind box, nearly as a strange element within its context because of its size and shape. To emphasize this sensation, the cladding of the building vibrates and shines with a pearly-iridescent material.

The use of a ceramic surfacing with this kind of finishing responds the intention of generating a vibrant volume in constant change, due to lighting changes or due to the movements of observer, this solution makes the building vibrate by changing its colour, saturation and profundity.

In an architectonical sense, the project was torn between a clear and categorical part and a sensitive and blurred part.

The simple and volumetric forcefulness of the proposal makes up for the blurred effect of outer plastic skin. This skin is made of polymethymethacrylate (PMMA), a plastic which characteristics allow a very lightweight fastening system, far from a visible substructure of attachment.

Due to the number of activities that must been developed in this building, the project had to solve technically the fact of creating accessible, flexible and reprogrammable floors. A grid construction with very few supports, great luminosity and the implementation of a technique floor-ceiling containing all installations of the building is the solution for this problem. This alternative makes possible a continuous redistribution of the plan.

The inner space is articulated around a big vacuum that is every time directly linked to outside. The entry into the building on ground floor is planned through it. The most public program of the building is developed in this space, as well as information, expositions, waiting room and meeting point. All around this empty space, comfortable, thermal and acoustic equipped working rooms are placed. These are an extremely neutral space that invites the users to invade with their personal belongings and make themselves at home.

P08_Villa Afal.

AFAL Foundation had the objective of developing a vacation complex for Alzheimer’s patients and their families in Trébago, a small municipality in province of Soria. This disease requires different types of care all along its evolution and the architecture cannot be unaware of them.

Before developing this project and providing it with residential spaces, therapy zones, recreation areas and other facilities, knowing the development of this disease was necessary in order to adapt the architecture to such a specific program.

In these days, the development of this disease is divided into 7 levels or GDS and our project expects the architecture to evolve in the same sense. Afal Villa altogether is a complex where there are so many different areas as different levels of GDS exist. Architecture follows this classification of the disease by evolving from its conception. From an area GDS 3, where the patient is still able to manage on his own, till an area GDS 7, where the patient is constantly looked after by a specialist 24 hours a day.

This framework leads us to an evolving urbanism from individual apartments in touch with open spaces until a thick and concentrated residence, near to the town center for those advanced patients.

P09_AlzheiMur Center

The chosen land for AlzheMur center, on the hills of Montecaralar (el Esparrgal, Murcia) has some extraordinary qualities. Its location in the outskirts helps the visitors to recover the contact with the nature. For this reason, the place plays a decisive role in this project.

The facilities were established as a route along the mountain, they were distributed by respecting the orography. Inside these pavilions distributed throughout eight levels, there are administration programs, day care center, investigation center, theatre, bar and cafeteria.

A01_A walk through the history of El Campello

The project is located in the municipality of El Campello (Alicante) and includes two proposals in different scales. The first one suggest a route connecting the promenade with the rest of the town through two green axes and the old royal path, by giving alternatives to the only existent tourism: sun and beach. The second proposal is focused in one point of this promenade in the nearby of the leisure port. It tries to increase the value of this space since, despite its exceptional historical and landscape features, it is quite damaged due to previous constructions.

The latter proposal is materialized, on its turn, in two more courses of action. The first one brings a promenade along the slope delimiting the port up, by giving access to old caves of fishermen which will be restored. This promenade is set up along a gangway that, thanks to design of its guardrail, promotes and improves the acoustics of its cultural and festive shows that take place in the lower esplanade.

The second course of action is developed on the upper esplanade and provides a construction integrated in the environment that counts on a mainly museum program, which integrates as well as archeological topics linked to La Illeta site, as ethnological and festive matters.
