    The breadboard is the primary place you will be building circuits. The horizontal andvertical rows of the breadboard carry electricity through thin metal connectors under the

    plastic with holes.

    The 5 holes in each horizontal row are connected electrically through metal strips

    inside the breadboard.The vertical strips that run the length of the breadboard are electrically connected.The strips are usually used for power and ground connections.

    LEDor light-emitting diode, is a component that converts electrical energy into light energy. LED are

    polarized components, which means they only allow electricity to flow through them in one direction. Thelonger leg on the LED is called anode, it will connect to power (5V or 3V3). The shorter leg is a cathode andwill connect to ground (GND). When one LED is connected in right way it emits light.

    A resistoris a component that resist the flow of electrical energy. It converts some of electrical energy intoheat. If you put a resistor in series with a component like an LED, it will receive less energy as a result. This

    allows you to supply components with the amount of energy they need.

    Aswitchinterrupts the flow of electricity, breaking the circuit when is open. When a switch

    is closed, it will complete a circuit.Close the circuit when is pressed. These are good for detecting on/off signals.
