Verizon

My parents told me they were going to take my cell phone away because I waste all of my minutes on cheap gossip with my friends. Well believe me, gossip is not cheap. It is very valuable if you use it in the right way. After much debate, and a few tears on my part, they signed up for Verizon’s unlimited texting plan. Now I can text Jenny all the new gossip- I mean important news- any time and as much as I want. Thanks Verizon, you really know how to keep a girl connected!

PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT & LIFE SKILLS

Frequently Asked QuestionsQ: Why do performers need training? A: The performing arts are just like any other profession. Lawyers have to go to law school, doctors have to go to medical school and performers absolutely need to be trained in modeling, acting, singing or dancing in order to become a professional in their field and have steady work. It’s very important that anyone trying to achieve work in any industry have the knowledge, skills and confidence to go on a job interview and sell themselves to a potential employer.

Q: Can you guarantee my child a job? A: Absolutely not, there are never any guarantees in life! We can’t do it for them: the only person that can do it is himself or herself. What we DO guarantee at Chicago Performing Arts is that your child will become poised, confident, well-spoken, and ready for success so that when an opportunity arises (both in the entertainment industry and in life), they are able to take full advantage!

PARENT & STUDENT TESTIMONIALS

“Devin has now signed with Hayes Talent Agency. He has been on TV shows. When he first came, he was shy and not very outgoing. But when he graduated, it was like he morphed and became a new person who was outgoing and full of light. This program gave him everything he needs from counseling guidance, to a connection at a talent agency.” - Olivia, parent of Devin Shegog

“He was able to learn the overall expectations of the industry. He also learned to focus his talents based on those expectations. His abilities are much more controlled and his understanding has broadened. This program will always be helpful because of the focus on fundamentals. He met his agent at the I.P. visit, and was signed a few weeks a later!” - Noel, parent of Lionel Lopez

“Enthusiastic and experienced instructors... spent time patiently talking to her about valuable tips and answering her many questions. She looked forward to learning and building her confidence and skills. She thoroughly enjoyed her teachers and classes. Her time management and organization skills have improved. She carries herself with more confidence. She doesn’t slouch anymore!” -Amy, parent of Sam W.“We have to say, we are very happy with the professionalism of the staff, especially Erica and SaraJane. Not only were they professional, but they made us feel comfortable, especially in the beginning. Your follow up callbacks were excellent, which they should be, but we appreciate it because most organizations don’t operate on the level of excellence as the Chicago Performing Arts. We have already recommended another student for the program.” - Selenia, parent of Alana N.

“This was a valuable experience. To see how the industry works and all the work that goes into it is truly amazing. Everyone was extremely knowledgeable and answered all questions and provided recommendations and guidance. My daughter has grown in her outlook as to what she can accomplish and what is available to her in the future. She has gained confidence in herself and a greater interest in what she wants for herself in life.“ - Laura, parent of Angela L.

“She’s taking notes and trying to apply them to how she is at home so when it’s time to work she will be prepared. Naveah was very shy in the beginning. Since being enrolled I’ve seen her break out with how she walks and showing more personality. I feel like her experience here will help with her confidence in the long run. Everyone here is very nice and patient. I appreciate that. I am grateful for the time my daughter has spent here. I’m happy that you all allow her to come back if she needs to refresh. Thank you so much!” - Elyse, parent of Naveah B.

“Her time here helped build her confidence and made her come out of her shell she was in. She’s able to talk in front of a small crowd and she expresses how she feels instead of holding things in. She will always be able to come back and have more training, so this program will have a long lasting effect on her life. You all are great at what you do!” -Tamya, parent of Syrenity L.

“She has learned healthy eating and exercise, public speaking, and confidence in social settings. Her voice projection improved. She is not as shy, she’s more confident, and feels good about how she looks. Short term, this program has given her more confidence in accomplishing tasks. Long term, this program has helped her with listening and following specific directions. The staff was always polite and helpful!” - Felicia, parent of Taiylor G.

“I’m so happy to be one of your successful graduates! I was signed with 19:30 Model Management in Chicago and have had the opportunity to work with Robert Beczarski, Erin Zhoushi, Yaromir Mlynski and BloPhoto among others, as well as to walk for a designer at the Chicago Fashion Market. I also shot for Dom ITP and have ad images up outside of Nordstrom’s... I am very excited with the start of my career!” - Monique, Modeling Student

“The staff is amazing and super helpful with how they provided and explained feedback along with new material. I will continue to look back at all the advice and critiques given to me whenever I am stuck at a point when practicing.” -Isaiah Colon, Acting Student

“My favorite part about being here is the way we are treated like a family. I also love the fun activities that we do every day, for example, learning to apply makeup, filming commercials, and practicing monologues. I have learned plenty by being here...I also love the whole concept that we don’t get laughed at even if we do crazy things like making silly mistakes on a commercial for example. Here...we just are family.” - Calsie Contreras, Modeling & Acting Student

“SaraJane answered every question I had in great detail and we always used the time we had well. Everyone is so nice, and I love the atmosphere here!” -Elizabeth Babcock, Acting Student

“Modeling was foreign to me before this program but now I am confident to strut my stuff. I learned valuable information such as slate, monologues, runway walks, and other terminology.” -Jessica Scheirer, Modeling Student

“My confidence is solid and I am more open and excited for new opportunities. I feel like this program has really opened up my future as a performer.” -Gianna McGloon, Acting Student

“She has become more of a leader in school and her everyday life. [I have seen growth] in her confidence and her ability to truly show her talents and showcase her abilities. I am very impressed with the staff and their willingness to work with us and our crazy schedule!” -Stephanie, parent of Madeline K.

“I feel more confident in myself and know more things about modeling. [I have] better posture and walk, and a better sense of style. All of the staff are very friendly and I enjoyed talking to them!” -Morgaine Rivera, Modeling Student
