Heb. 10:36-39: You have need of endurance, that having done the will of God, you may receive the inheritance…those who believe to the saving of the soul.

God condemns strife (quarreling, contentious wrangling), Rom. 13:13; Gal. 5:20; Jas. 3:16

God commands of us the struggle of strenuous zeal by which we obtain the eternal prize (2 Tim. 4:7)

WE ENGAGE THIS STRUGGLE: My little children, let us not love in word or in tongue, but in deed and in truth. (1 Jno. 3:18; cf. Heb. 12:12-14)

EXERCISE SELF-CONTROL: And everyone who competes for the prize is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a perishable crown, but we for an imperishable crown. (1 Cor. 9:25)

FIGHT WITH RESOLVE: Therefore I run thus: not with uncertainty. Thus I fight: not as one who beats the air. (1 Cor. 9:26)

SUCCESSFUL: But I discipline my body and bring it into subjection, lest, when I have preached to others, I myself should become disqualified. (1 Cor. 9:27)

This Fight does not End until We Die

1 Tim. 6:12: Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, to which you were also called and have confessed the good confession in the presence of many witnesses.

2 Tim. 4:7-8: I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Finally, there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give to me on that Day, and not to me only but also to all who have loved His appearing.
