Strand level intervention This document includes Strand level intervention grids for the PUMA Spring tests, Years 1– 6. The grids identify sections of On Track Maths (see www.risingstars-uk.com/series/on-track-maths) that can be used as intervention activities with pupils who need additional support in particular strands. You can use this grid in the following way: Identify which pupils have gained less than one third of the marks available for a particular strand, and/or have performed lower than the rest of your cohort. Use the sections of On Track Maths identified in the grid to further support pupils who need help in these strands. For some strands there is more than one suggested intervention activity. These should be used in order from left to right. Area of learning intervention This document also includes Area of learning charts and Area of learning intervention grids for the PUMA Spring tests, Years 1–6. The charts identify which questions relate to each area of learning, and the grids identify sections of On Track Maths that can be used as intervention activities with pupils who need additional support with particular areas of learning that have not been identified as part of the Strand level intervention. Strand level intervention This document includes Strand level intervention grids for the PUMA Spring tests, Years 1– 6. The

grids identify sections of On Track Maths (see www.risingstars-uk.com/series/on-track-maths) that

can be used as intervention activities with pupils who need additional support in particular strands.

You can use this grid in the following way:

• Identify which pupils have gained less than one third of the marks available for a particular

strand, and/or have performed lower than the rest of your cohort.

• Use the sections of On Track Maths identified in the grid to further support pupils who need

help in these strands.

• For some strands there is more than one suggested intervention activity. These should be

used in order from left to right.

Area of learning intervention This document also includes Area of learning charts and Area of learning intervention grids for the

PUMA Spring tests, Years 1–6. The charts identify which questions relate to each area of learning,

and the grids identify sections of On Track Maths that can be used as intervention activities with

pupils who need additional support with particular areas of learning that have not been identified as

part of the Strand level intervention. You can use the chart and grid in conjunction with each other

in the following way:

1. Look at the Gap Analysis in MARK. Note down any question numbers that the pupil has

answered incorrectly, and which do not fall within any strand level intervention that you

have identified.

2. Look up the question numbers on the Area of learning chart. Note down or highlight the

related area of learning. These areas of learning are identified by a letter.

3. On the Area of learning intervention grid find the areas of learning you have noted down.

Then check whether the pupil has reached the threshold number of marks for that area of

learning. You can do this by checking the box alongside the question number in the

table whether you think an intervention is needed and deliver the suggested intervention

activities from On Track Maths for this area, if so.

5. Where more than one intervention is suggested, deliver these in order, working left to right

on the grid.

Steps to identify which intervention to use The following flow chart will help you identify the most appropriate intervention to use. There is an example of how these steps work in the guidance document ‘Guide to remediating from PUMA to On Track Maths using the MARK reports’ (see www.risingstars-uk.com/otmremediation).

the area of learning, then refer to the group letter identified there
