OLW MASSES TO DOUBLE IN JULY
OLW Masses to Double in July
Father Arthur and the Church Reopening Team are
excited to announce that Our Lady of the Wayside
Mass offerings will double beginning in July.
"The Reopening Team met earlier this week to review
compliance and success of the 9:30 and 11:30 masses
and determined that we are now in a ready position to
double our mass offerings," said Fr. Arthur. "Our
goal from the beginning was to offer mass and Holy
Communion to as many parishioners as was safely
possible. We started conservatively, offering two
Sunday Masses to 50 parishioners each. We learned
from this process, made adjustments and increased
attendance to 125 parishioners at each mass last
week. And based on continued success of this roll-
out process, we are now prepared to add 5:00 pm
Saturday Vigil Mass and a 6:00 pm Sunday Mass
to the 9:30/11:30 am Sunday lineup, starting in July,"
added Father.
Preregistration for mass attendance is mandatory
and is available starting at 7:00 am the Friday preced-
ing each Saturday or Sunday mass. Preregister online
here: https://bit.ly/37RmjR8. If you require assistance
registering, please contact Kathy Freiburger in the
parish office at (847) 253-5353.
Face masks must be worn at all masses. Please also
bring hand sanitizer if you have it.
Those unable or not quite ready to return to live mass,
or those considered to be 'most vulnerable,' are en-
couraged to attend mass virtually. Streaming mass
continues to be offered on OLW's Facebook page at
5:00 pm each Saturday and will also be available on
the parish website shortly after the conclusion of live-
streaming mass. Dispensation is still offered by the
Archdiocese.

Dear Brothers and Sisters,
Whoever follows Jesus can count on the fact that he will become a stranger to many people,
even those closest to him. In today’s Gospel, Jesus says:
He who loves father or mother more than me is not worthy of me; and he who loves son or
daughter more than me is not worthy of me; and he who does not take his cross and follow me is
not worthy of me. He who finds his life will lose it, and he who loses his life for my sake will find
it.
Why does Jesus use such strong language when speaking to His Apostles? He does so in order
to emphasize how important it is to have a proper hierarchy of values in our lives. This means
that we need to appreciate and focus on what is most important first and what is least important
last. In each of our lives, no matter what our vocations are, each of us must place God first in
this hierarchy, and everything and everyone else should follow.
So, if we put God first in our lives. He will see to it that our relationships are harmonious and
that we have all of our daily needs such as food, drink, and clothing met.
When we know that God is first, we are happy - happy because we have found Jesus, and Jesus
has found us.And someone who has discovered God and His love cannot remain silent about the
love for Christ that fills his Heart. He must share it with others. And we, too, must share the
Love of God that we have experienced in our lives with others.
My brothers and sisters, wherever you are in your spiritual life, I would like to invite you to
send a few moments of silence after Communion and welcome Jesus into your heart. Ask him to
fill your heart with His Love.
Father Arthur

SLOWLY - BUT SURELY - OLW RETURNING TO NORMALCY It may take a few more weeks - or months - but little by little, week by week, Our Lady of the Wayside is preparing to return to a nor-
mal routine in the face of the Corona Virus.
A limited number of Sunday Masses have been celebrated in the Church with a limited number of parishioners but it is anticipated -
and certainly hoped for - that both the number of Masses, the frequency of Masses and the number of attendees will continue to in-
crease.
In the meantime, parishioners are reminded that daily Masses are celebrated at 8:30 a.m. Monday through Friday and available LIVE
on the OLW Facebook channel, and that two Sunday Masses are celebrated in the Church, with advance registration required.
Saturday Evening Masses (5:00 p.m.) are scheduled to return in early July.

13th Sunday in Ordinary Time
When we were baptized, we were baptized into
Christ’s death. Take a moment to ponder these pro-
found words. We were baptized into death. In every
sense of the word, we are asked to die. This is not
just about our final death but about daily deaths due
to inconvenience, discomfort, pain, loss, or others’
needs. This is an incredible epiphany given the way
we very often approach our lives. We do everything
to avoid death, let alone encounter it! Many avoid
pain, discomfort, inconvenience, uneasiness,
change, interference, and suffering of any kind. We
put a lot of energy into finding the easiest and least
inconvenient way through many things. Even hold-
ing the door open for a stranger or saying hello to
someone in the store can be major undertakings.
We are called to die. One of the biggest wake-up
calls we can have is realizing that life is not about
us! There are millions of other people sharing life
on this planet with whom I have a relationship.
Does my life celebrate those relationships? The
most distracting question we can ask is, “What do I
want to do?” The more focused, faith-filled question
is, “What do I need to do?” What I need to do may
not be what I want to do. However, asking this
question more frequently will teach us how to more
purposefully and intentionally live so we can be a
life giving vessel for others. When we learn to live
more sacrificially, to put the needs of others before
our own, and to not always seek our own self-
interest, we become aware of what baptism into
Christ’s death is really all about. These are the roots
of virtue and the seedbed for justice, tolerance, soli-
darity, love, and peace.
Learning how to accept all the “small deaths” and
sacrifices life calls us to teaches us how to approach
our final death. All deaths ask us to empty ourselves
into something or someone else. Whether we empty
ourselves into the heart and soul of another human
being or empty ourselves into God at the moment of
our final death, new life is always received and nur-
tured. A heart that exclusively seeks its own interest
is a heart that is closed to love. A heart that pours
itself out to others and is content with being emptied
is a heart that has been touched by and open to
mercy. It is a heart that overflows with joy.
