You are encouraged to flip through the pages and explore the abundance of activities and services offered here at ‘The Mill’ for adults age 55 and better. Beginning in January, there is a slight change to Monday pickleball hours. The new hour offered will be two courts 12:30-3pm
*Reminder*Two courts will be made available during the designated times when there is enough players to fill the courts. This is subject to change at any time based on availability and facility needs.

ON THE COVER: 2018 is your year to get fit, and Arlington Mill is here to help you do it! We offer a robust palette of fitness classes daily, from yoga to pilates. New in January is Zumba! This popu-lar dance exercise will be held on Mondays at 10:30am. Prefer to exercise on your own? Purchase or upgrade to a 55+ Gold Pass, which gets you access to our Fitness Studio any time the center is open. For more information, just ask!

On Wed., Jan3, 7-8pm Dr. Katie Thompson from The Health Improvement Cen-ter will demonstrate how she uncovers nutritional deficiencies that may contribute to women’s health issues. Reducing your Risk of Dementia: There are several key risk fac-tors that contribute to dementia, and while some are genetic, oth-ers can be avoided. Join Parween Nooruddin, Community Liai-son for Care with Love on Tues., Jan. 23, 11-noon to learn about steps you can take to reduce your risk of dementia.Eating Right on a Budget: With grocery prices rising, it can be difficult to afford the whole, healthful foods our bodies deserve. On Fri., Jan. 26, 11-noon Gwendolyn Beck, Gerontologist and Manager of Senior Health at Virginia Hospital Center will cover ‘being there’, lifestyle choices, movement, faith and gratitude.Free Blood Pressure Checks: Get your BP checked! On Thurs., Jan. 25, 11-noon a member from The Medical Team will be on hand to offer blood pressure checks.

Transportation Options
SCAT - If you are a 55+ Arlington Resident, you can
take a taxi to any senior center for just $2.50. For an application
please call 703-228-8747.
For people 60 and older who live nearby, transportation
may be available to our lunch program. Registration and
paperwork are required. Please see senior staff or call the
center: 703-228-7369.
AFAC
Limited food is donated from the Arlington Food
Assistance Center (AFAC) on Mondays at 12:00pm to
qualifying seniors.
It is required that an AFAC application be complet-ed and approved before receiving food assistance.
See staff for details.

Open Latino DanceEvery 3rd Friday, 10-Noon
New in January! Join us for a morning of dancing to classic latino dances. Enjoy a variety of dances such as Salsa, Merengue, Rumba, or Cha Cha Cha.
Come on your own or with a partner. A volunteer DJ will play popular Latin Music to dance to!

A Note from the Committee We hope you all had a blast at the Fall Festival, an event hosted by the Arling-ton Mill Senior Advisory Committee. We certainly did!
Every year, the committee puts togeth-er goals for enhancing the center and community. Our goals this year focus on social events and community spaces.
