The REEVES FAMILY
First Generation
WAITER REEVES, who was probably the em
igrant ancestor of this family* settled
in Burlington Ctaunty, Jersey, before
I678G It has not been definitely deter
mined whether he came direcS from Eng
land to West Jersey or from the West
Indiaso However that may be , the family
is English, and he was living in Jersey
in 1678. The records would indicate that
he owned a large plantation there, which
was called Reeves Land.
The wills of Walter and his second wife
Ann are both on record in the offioe of
the Secretary of State, Trenton,
Walter's will is dated May 1693, while
Ann's is under date of 17320
Walter was born'about 1653/3, not defi
nitely known. He died 1696 3is first *,v*
was probably named Susannah, and by her
he had two children;
