After nearly 10 years, the time had come to rethink this publication in light of the evolving priorities of the Real Estate and Commercial Services division. While the primary mission of Aéroports de Montréal—that is, to provide quality airport services that meet the needs of the Montréal community—has not changed, we have also resolved to substantially grow our non-aviation-related revenues in the years to come, which means ramping up development of our real estate and commercial operations. The potential is there: specifically, we own considerable reserves of land that are ripe for development at both Montréal–Trudeau and Montréal–Mirabel airports. In particular, we are more convinced than ever of the soundness of our vision to make Montréal– Mirabel a world-class hub for aerospace and logistics companies. The progress on the Bombardier Aerospace CSeries project and the recent arrival of Aerolia, France’s leading manufacturer of fuselage aerostructures, are proof of this. There’s plenty happening at Montréal–Trudeau as well, with work continuing to expand the international flights area, a new commercial zone about to open in the public area, and other developments being introduced that are sure to please our passengers. With that, I’d like to wish you enjoyable reading and would like to take this opportunity to express our best wishes for happiness and prosperity for 2014. Following this major agreement, construction work on the new Bombardier plant began in June 2013, with delivery slated for August 2014. As you’ll recall, the inaugural flight of the CSeries business jet took place this past September 16. Beyond this aircraft’s remarkable technological and economic innovations, we’ve been able to see first-hand that it is an extremely quiet plane, both on takeoff and landing. The beginning of construction on the new factory for the CSeries assembly line is an important step that many observers had been eagerly awaiting. Key players in Québec’s aerospace cluster as well as at ADM are thrilled with the progress on this project that is so crucial for the future, and the benefits of which will soon be felt. NEW BUILDING ADM and Aerolia Canada Inc. have signed a 15-year lease, with rollover options, for a facility to be built by ADM at Montréal–Mirabel airport. The 7,296 square-metre plant is being designed specifically to meet the needs of Aerolia, which will use it to build, among other structures, the equipped central fuselage for Bombardier Aerospace’s Global Express aircraft. The construction work, contracted to Syscomax Construction, is expected to be complete in February 2014. ADM has invested $9.5 million in the project, which will create some 150 jobs. “We are very excited to be setting up shop at Montréal–Mirabel, as this site will provide us with an environment conducive to the success of the Aerolia Group in Canada and its development across North America,” said Aerolia Canada President and CEO Mrs. Marie-Agnès Veve at the ground-breaking ceremony. COMMERCIAL SERVICES NEW COMMERCIAL ZONE The finishing touches are being put on the new commercial zone in the northern part of the Montréal–Trudeau terminal’s public area. Architectural firm Provencher Roy and design firm Moureaux Hauspy were responsible for this project. Starting in December 2013 and January 2014, visitors, passengers and employees at Montréal- Trudeau airport will be able to enjoy what the newest tenants have to offer. The latest additions include popular food establishments and retailers Sushi Shop, Jugo Juice, Vasco da Gama, Archibald Microbrasserie as well as Tristan, La Source, Cirque du Soleil and Découvrir Montréal.In addition, two new retailers now opened in the international jetty: Vino Volo, a wine and tapas bar, and Les Délices de l’Érable, a bistro-boutique with the accent on maple products. NEW DUTY-FREE SHOP Fully revamped with contemporary styling and bearing the mark of local designers, the Aer Rianta shop in the international area will boast a “walk-thru” design, with both the architecture and interior design conducive to smooth passenger traffic. We salute the architectural firm of Cardinal Hardy as well as the design studio, Huma Design. PARKING AND GROUND TRANSPORTATION ONLINE RESERVATION SYSTEM Early in November, ADM inaugurated a new online system for reservation of parking spots at Montréal–Trudeau. Two of the parking facilities are currently part of the system: ÉconoParc P5 and HôtelParc. The multi-level garage, which includes ProxiParc and ExpressParc, is now added. The system, which has already drawn rave reviews from passengers, is accessible via the website admtl.com, and allows users to quickly and easily benefit from available promotional offers.
