Craig Misch – General Manager & Golf Pro Nice month here at the Monarch. February had one more day this year and we used it to our advantage!! The weather has been so good and so has the course. It’s been very busy, and to all the members I say thank you for being welcoming and courteous to all of our outside groups/guests! We have had a very busy season so far and you have all been very helpful making our guests feel at home, and in turn I want to thank all of the non-member groups and players for supporting us here at Monarch this season, we appreciate you very much and look forward to serving you in the future. Big event this month was member-member. We had 116 players participate this year, so once again the Monarch members showed up in force for one of the top events of the season. The Overall winners in the men’s

division were Charlie Wolff and Mike Kline!!! The overall winners in the Women’s Division were Debbie Douglas and Judy Taylor. Congrats to the winners and thank you all for playing, it’s always a great event. We also had night golf this past month, it was one of the few colder evenings we had this month, but 30 members plus Dina and I braved the cool temps and had a wonderful time! I will ask mother nature for a warmer evening next year! Thank you all for being there!! Club Championship is just a few days away…good luck to all!! Men’s Flight #1

the team of Debbie Dame, Betty Gibson, Mike Bolier and Tim Waugh winning the day. We then enjoyed a great lunch at the Crown and Shield. Look for more of combined events in the future!

Vince Laverghetta – Winner of 2 Skins Please help us welcome our newest member, Jim McGill. The Men’s Club Championship will be held March 11th, 12th, and 14th. The Club Championship will be played from the Black tees flight and the Champion determined by Gross score only. There will also be Gold and Green tee flights. 100% handicap will be used to determine Net winners in all flights (Black, Gold and Green tees). Prize money will be placed into a single pool and distributed equally between all flights. There will be a minimum payout for 1st and 2nd place gross and net in all flights. Additionally, a reserved parking spot will be awarded to the Gross winners for the Club Champion and the Gold and Green tee winners.

MWGA – Esther Patterson Welcome to our newest MWGA members: Karen Brondyke and Kitty Bolier! The "Beat the Pro" Golf and Pizza Party will be held on Thursday, March 5th - 8:00 AM shotgun. I will have the winners of this in next month's newsletter. Next session of Match Play will start on Tuesday, April 7 and run through June 2nd.

Vince Laverghetta-Men’s Match Play Men’s Match Play concluded with a dramatic finish supplied by John Buono as he sank a 5-foot putt to clinch first place in the Nicklaus Division. Alvin Dennis subbed for Henry Maguire and saved John from a lifetime of abuse from Henry as Alvin shot a spectacular 73 to hold of the second-place team of Vince Laverghetta and Dick Sjogren by a single point. Herb Van Benthuysen and Jim Dubsky overtook the team of Al Whittlef and Mike Bolier in the final week of play to claim first place in the Palmer Division. You can’t feel bad for Al and Mike since they were partying in New Orleans at the Mardi Gras. Terry Stephenson - Superintendent We will be putting out our 2nd application for fairy ring control on the greens. We will be spiking the greens starting this month. We will be lightly topdressing the greens to help smooth them out. We will be putting out a treatment for nematodes, on the tees also. We are putting out some additional coquina in areas of the cart path entrance and exits. We rented a blower to blow the leaves off the fairways and green and tee surrounds the last week of February. We will be renting a machine to pick up the leaves towards the end of March. Please remember to drive “IN” the fairways as this will help the bermudagrass in the roughs.

Jon Shoaf Monarch Golf Club would like to welcome back Jon Shoaf as an equity

member. John was a longtime equity member who moved away for a while, but is now back with us. He returned under the Amnesty Program. Jon is the biggest Pittsburg Steelers fan out there, so if you see him driving around in his Steeler’s cart say hi and welcome him back!!

Gary Eckensberger Please welcome Gary Eckensberger as a Single Limited General member. Gary moved here from Iselin, NJ, has four children and 4 grandchildren. He retired from G.M. and enjoys golf and motorcycles.

Britt Davies Welcome Britt as a Single Limited General Member. Britt is originally from Lansing, Michigan and owned his own business, a central die sinking company (manufacturing of forging dies). He has one daughter, two granddaughters and enjoys golf, gardening, fishing and hunting. Welcome back Britt.

Playing Card Bingo-Diane Christie Once again, we had a sold-out crowd for Playing Card Bingo on 2/26/20. The king for the evening was Dick Holst and the Queen for the evening was Ruthann Cox. Hope to see you all in March.
