Taago is part of a beautiful series that artist El Anatsui describes as “metal-cloth sculpture.” He joins discarded bits of aluminum bottle tops to form glittering textiles in the tradition of the woven textiles that have been made in West Africa for over one thousand years!

of Paris. This is a great spot for taking a walk, viewing statues, or relaxing by a pond.

Have you ever seen a pig traveling on an expressway? Nellie Mae Rowe grew up on a farm in rural Georgia.

When she got older, she moved to Vinings, where she decorated her house with ornaments, dolls, chewing-gum sculptures, and hundreds of drawings. In this one, she imagines an old friend from the farm on one of the busy roads near her house. Where do you think the pig is going?

2 Our next stop is on the continent of Asia. But don’t worry, you only have to walk across the bridge to the Wieland Pavilion and find gallery 417.

This kaleidoscope-like shape is called a mandala, which is a word from the ancient Indian language Sanskrit. Artist Caomin Xie (pronounced “kay-oh-min shee-uh”) was inspired by mandala traditions from around the world, including Tibetan Buddhist ceremonies, Hindu rituals, and Jain art.

Try designing your own mandala! Find the center of the large circle below and draw a small circle around it. Then draw larger circles that radiate from the center and use the spaces in between to add geometric or organic shapes in repeating patterns.

Nuestra siguiente parada queda en el continente de Asia. Pero no te preocupes, solo tienes que cruzar el puente al Pabellón Wieland y encontrar la Galería 417.

Esta forma caleidoscópica se llama un mandala, una palabra de la lengua antigua de la India llamada sánscrito. El artista Caomin Xie (pronunciado “quei-o-min-shie”) se inspiró en las tradiciones de mandalas de distintas partes del mundo, entre ellas las ceremonias del budismo tibetano, los rituales hindúes y el arte jainista.
