    This is an introduction to different genres of art paintings, sculpture, tapestries, etc. Art is anexpression that can take different forms. There

    are framed pictures, pictures drawn in caves, andpictures painted on ceilings. Michelangelos

    Show: Realia of various forms of art and discusswhat was used to make them and what the artistwas trying to convey.

    Show: Famous a variety of art from famousartists including Michelangelo and the prints Ibrought back from Ethiopia.

    End with a gallery walk in the other part of thelibrary with crackers and 7-up as they view

    student art from different grade levels.Session 2: Do you remember that we said artistssometimes paint on the ceiling? We looked at the

    Sistine Chapel. Today Im going to show you achurch in Ethiopia that has paintings on theceiling. (YouTube) We are going to make angel

    faces, too, and put them on the ceiling of our

    library!Show: Video clip. Show: Poster & scarf and askthem to tell what details they see.Show: Sample angel face and tools needed-sm.

    Paper plate, crayons (skin tone, black, red orgreen), scissors, colored paper (red, green,orange or gold)Students color paper plate faces up under tables.

    Cut out wings. Assemble project at 2 stations(one to glue papers and one to dot with q-tips in

    white tempera paint)

    Had 2nd group just color the skin tone of angelface under table instead of the whole head. Itwas easier for them to manage and cut down thetime element.
