Olivia BoaOlivia Boa was born in 1981 in Yvelines in

France. At a young age Boa was attracted

to the world of the art and in particular,

painting.

Boa began her formation into an artist at

the age of 10 with the help of Yves

Armani, an artist who taught her the

basiscs. From the age of her 14, Boa

pursued her work and her research in

painting in a self-taught way.

In 1998, Boa decided to release hersefl from

conventional structures of the academic

painting, by turning on the abstract art.

In 2011, she worked the concept of

"generations" in art, namely to paint a

subject on various energy perceptions. For

example of a landscape, Olivia Boa is

going to draw all the energy yin and to

transmit it on a work, while realizing

simultaneously another work of the same

landscape but in an energy yang, so

forming a linen couple representing the

same landscape and being entitled: the

first generation.

In addition to her work as an artist, Olivia is

also a therapist and in 2012 she proposed a

subtle mixture of her work in therapy

mixed with her work in abstract art.

Olivia Boa declines us a whole pallet of

feelings, sensations, observations and

makes in consultation and retranscribes it

in the form of colors, of movement, of

textures and of forms on a painting.

A French/English bilingual catalog of its

work: « psychological works » will be

available from the end of this summer.

For any order please get in touch directly

with the artist who will dedicate it to you

personally.

Ione Citrin"I dream, therefore, I am"

I create art because I must.

It is a necessary extension of my life.

It identifies and substantiates my existence.

It is my profile and my legacy.

I want to intrigue and entertain.

I want to initiate wonder and questions.

I want to communicate my thoughts, dreams and desires.

most of all, I want to be!

“MY ART IS MY VOICE”Ione’s art has shown nationally since 1998 when,

after years of world travel, a successful television,

radio, theatre and film career in the performing arts,

she decided to focus her richly diverse talents on the

visual arts. Ione’s artistic expression, creativity, and

passion for communication have resulted in

numerous awards for her painting, sculpture, mixed

media, and assemblage. Her work has also been

featured in several important publications. Ione

maintains an extensive exhibition schedule in juried,

non-juried, and invitational arts venues.

Ione is an avant garde artist whose artistic expression

takes fantastic shape through her diverse oil and

watercolor paintings, bronze sculptures, found object

collages and mixed media assemblages. Her

contemporary paintings and sculptures range from

abstract to realistic to impressionistic - all visionary

interpretations from her imaginative soul.

Ione uses only one name but a variety of styles to

soothe her wild imagination. A native of Chicago,

she is a former television star and commercial

voice-over artist. Now she wins awards and sells her

creativity through her hands instead of through her

larynx. Her art is as original as she is - bold, colorful

and highly decorative.

Stefan GeissbühlerBorn in Switzerland, Stefan Geissbühler moved to the USA to

pursue his dream of working as a professional fine artist, which

he has done successfully since 1992.

Travel, nature and music are the primary sources of his

inspiration. His most recent work focuses on freestyle forms and

figurative themes. A common thread is his layering of vibrant

colors to create art that visually sings.

Stefan’s art can be found in many national and international,

private and corporate collections, including with AAM

Recordings, the Chamber Music Society of St. Louis (CMSSL),

Casino Kursaal Bern (Bern, Switzerland), Centene Corporation

and internationally known classical music conductor Leonard

Slatkin. Stefan’s work has also been represented by several

national and international art galleries, including the

Kunstsammlung Unterseen (Switzerland), the L2 Gallery

(Seaside, FL) and the Carla Wright Gallery (Denver, CO), to name

a few. He also participates in some of the finest art festivals in

the USA, such as the Riverwalk Fine Art Festival (Naperville, IL),

the Sausalito Art Festival (Sausalito, CA), the Aspen Fine Art

Festival (Aspen, CO) and the Cottonwood Art Festival (Dallas, TX).

Beyond ImpressionismThe Polish fine art used to be quite conservative and typical for

the North-eastern Europe. The bulk of art trade in Poland is

currently focused on several well-established twentieth century

(or earlier) names and their followers. Since the collapse of

communism more than 20 years ago there has been no new

direction which has attracted public and critics attention. It

seems that the situation changes and a new wave is finally

coming across the Polish fine art scene.

A new trend represented by two artists, Zofia Kijak and PawelPolisiak, has emerged which is characterized by fascination with

color. The artists of this post-communist "color revolution" use

vivid hues and their works are filled with light and radiate with

happiness. Inspiration has been sought from natural beauty and

originates from en plein air work, particularly in the South

Pacific and Mediterranean full of sunshine, colorful houses and

fairy-tale lush vegetation. Their painting style could be broadly

classified as post-impressionism though their art is more unique

or crosses boundaries between various styles (David Hockney or

Jean-Claude Picot styles are worthwhile mentioning here), but

definitely easily identifiable by its vibrant colors, bold brush

strokes and feeling of sheer joy. Their summer seascapes clash

with somewhat dull trojkas or white winter landscapes of long-

established Polish fine artists. This "joie de vivre" is the artists'

response to the current situation in Poland.

Paula LaflammeBorn in Montreal in 1964, Paula Laflamme is a self

taught artist and began painting in 1992.

Paula spent her childhood between land and sea, the slums

of Montreal, and the richness of her ancestors, from Gaspé.

Her paintings are her own compositions, they are her work.

Using her emotions and the expressions of the people

she meets, she lives in interesting situations and moves

deep into her characters and those who contemplate.

The everyday life, the mood of our society, the character

and actions of the "Almighty" and others, those who make

their little daily routine living their lives without anyone`s

notice, are a valuable sources of inspiration for Paula.

Paula allows herself to be carried away by her foolishness,

she lets it be sweet, bitter or violent. She lets her brushes

guide her until the darkness reaches the light.

Note that the interpretation of these works, are as intimateas they could be, I sincerely hope you can discover the deepemotions that lie dormant within us all. –Paula Laflamme

Jacqui MorganWhen Jacqui Morgan received her BFA from Pratt,

she entered a world without any female illustrators.

She with BarbaraNessim and Lorraine Fox who

passed away very young, were the first and only

working female illustrators. During the heyday of

the psychedelic, she designed and illustrated the

iconic Electric Circus Poster and went on to create

more iconic images for the American Optometric

Association, Sansui, Scott Printing, Celanese, Exxon,

and 7 UP Billboards. Unique covers for American

Artist Magazine, Mac Millan Books, Print Magazine

and Cosmopolitan along with album covers for RCA,

ads for DeBeers diamonds and animated

commercials for Burlington Mills and General Mills

were among her achievements. She always loved

science fiction and illustrated a few anthologies for

young readers.

Seeking excitement and change, Morgan began to

experiment with painting on found objects such as

chairs, sofas, shovels and drawers. At one point her

living room looked filled to capacity with beautiful

amazons seated and reclining when the room was

empty. This idea caught the fancy of Playboy

Germany to commission a series of illustrations of

sofas with celebrities’ seated in conversation such as

one with Truman Capote, Jackie Kennedy Onassis

and the Duchess of Windsor.

Almost simultaneously, unable to wear high heels

any longer, but in love with the sculpture of shoes,

she moved to include those otherwise useless

shoes. Initially she painted the probable wearer on the innersoles

and later added nails and other discomforts to the entire shoe. Ah!

what women will go through for beauty. These became part of a

travelling exhibition Die Verlassesen Schuhe in Germany and

Austria as well as illustrations for album covers and magazines.

These were recently seen at Gallery 13’s Beauty School Drop-outs

exhibition in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

After Morgan received her MA from Hunter College, CUNY, she

studied realistic oil painting with Sharon Sprung, a student of

Harvey Dinnerstein and then applied these findings to watercolor.

In 1991 she travelled to Japan and Thailand to do a billboard

campaign for Dentsu Tokyo on Thai Airlines and Thailand as an

ideal vacation destination for the Japanese. This kind of

commission is currently rare indeed.

When Jacqui Morgan began to teach at the Fashion Institute of

Technology she again felt her excitement over making art was on

the wane. So she began to simplify her painting process and make

it more exciting by painting the figure from life within a maximum

twenty to twenty-five minutes. Her product began to be less real

and more exaggerated. More juicy and less rendered. The blurr of

motion became as important as the third dimension, the drawing

quality, and the exchange of negative and positive space.

After 2005 she produced three books: Jacqui Morgan’s Journey, a

retrospective survey of her work also shown at the Society of

Illustrators. In 2010 she produced MOSTLY NUDE, Watercolors

from Life, and in 2011 ALMOST NUDE, is also is being sold at the

Society of Illustrators.

Jon Bøe PaulsenJon Bøe Paulsen work of art can be presented under the name

New-Realism. Portrait of mankind with a classical brush but put

in a modern context. "Clair obscure" Light in the darkness, a

name to a certain style that was invented with the painter

Caravaggio in the 15th century and futher developed with the

Dutch master Rembrandt in the 16th century. New-Realism

today sets the modern woman and man under debate with

painters who contructs tablaux in a social realistic way.

Very few figurative artists in Norway works with watercolour, but

Jon Bøe can't resist it even if it breaks with the ground principles

of how a Clair Obscure painting is build up.

"I can resist anything but a temptation"- Oscar Wilde.

A Painting in oil is mainly produced on a dark canvas surfice

prefrebly with the colour Raw Umber because that is the colour of

the shadow of the human flesh. All that the painter then have to do

is to add the light parts of the portrait. Such an artist use the

ground of the canvas activly to present for example a study of the

human body.

“I do not travel much, I never sketch on the train and even my

landscapes are painted indoors and I do not work abroad. My

paintings is created in my home studio in Oslo, Norway because

I belive in steady, predictably working conditions regardless of

seasons and weather conditions. I hope that this work of mine

from 2003 can inspire other artist to further develop their

figurative paintings”. - Jon Bøe Paulsen, Oslo, Norway

Sara SwanSara Swan is a Los Angeles based artist. Her education includes

fine art at Whitman College, design at UC Davis, and illustration

at Art Center College of Design.

Sara primarily paints with oils on canvas, but she also uses chalk

pastels on paper. Saturated and intense colors, unusual color

combinations and textures characterize her work.

Her career began in illustration where she created pieces for

books, magazines and newspapers that were humorous and

highly stylized. Her fine art was derivative of her illustration

style until a few years ago.

More recently, Sara has been looking at fashion from the 1940’s

and 50’s for inspiration. Using vintage images of both swimwear

and formal evening gowns, Sara combines these with her own

figure drawings to create paintings and drawings that celebrate

not only fashion and glamour, but the human figure, body

language and emotion as well.

Sara participates in the monthly Art Walk in downtown Los

Angeles. She and other artists who have studios at Spring Arts

Tower show their work in the mezzanine level gallery on the

2nd Thursday night to each month. “There is a wonderful

synergy among us”, Sara says of this monthly exhibition.

In the coming months, Sara plans to further her examination of

the human form, incorporating elements from nature, and using

religious icon paintings as a stylistic influence.

Sandy Den HartogSandy has had an interest in stones since childhood. Wherever she went, even as a

young person, whether it was picnics, vacations, or field trips; she always made sure

she had a cup along to collect rocks which were precious to her at the time. Once in

high school she took numerous classes in gemology and geology. Then she graduated,

got married, and had children. Rocks and gems had to be put on hold for a while.

However, she was still able to attend gem shows and art shows when she had the

opportunity. She was looking and learning and eventually was able to travel the globe and

reignite her interest in gems and minerals. She was struck by how much stones, rocks,

gems, and minerals change from country to country. In bringing back Ethiopian Crosses

from Africa, she made her daughters and granddaughters necklaces with the crosses.

She was once again hooked with a creative passion for what she could now do with

these artifacts.

Sandy’s work has been exhibited at David Raphaels at the Palace Hotel in San Francisco

and the James Ratliff Gallery in Sedona, Arizona. She has also been a part of several

juried shows winning a first place medal in 2010 and 2012 with a Award of Merit in 2012.
