Rains of Sand
Sitting underneath a tree with glowing leaves shining over me, the wind makes them
swirl and sing, and whisper old lullabies in my dreams. Wearing the sky on my
shoulders, a scarf made of sapphires and diamonds woven into a celestial embrace of
divine possibilities. Those are some of the things I miss the most about it. Incomplete
smiles between colourful bites, dancing with phantoms on floating floors, the secrets
built out of purple flowers hiding in my hair. Those are some of the things I miss most
about it. A land of hope, a land of promises a land of rivers that lead to amazing stories
and then come back up again because they want to go down the slide one more time.
I really, truly, desperately, miss it.
But soon, the desert sands begin to move, dunes rise, fall, shift, and, eventually, they lay
themselves as a golden blanket over that ancient world. I can see some of the branches
still sticking out, like fingers trying to grab something that will pull them out of their
fate. Leaves of light float lost in the air, in whirlpools of sorrow and moonlight, and the
songs asphyxiate under the weight of the sands. Sapphires and diamonds lay dismantled
and half sunk, the phantoms finally find their graves and the flowers petrify into tiny
statues, eventually escaping into dust. All that is left now are the ruins of that fantastic
world, and I know that I will never again see it as I used to see it before. This is all I was
left with and even though I try to dig up those old bones they soon end up getting buried
again, under the ever rising sands.
So, all I can do is build a new world on the shoulders of the old one and make sure that
now I will really cherish it, for this time I know. I know the sands are moving, I can feel
them creeping in.
This time, I can make it count.

QUERRÍA ARREPENTIRME
Querría arrepentirme
de no haberme enredadoen tus piernas
para no dejarte ir.Cuando te ibas.
Pero no puedo.
Alguna vez,sin embargo,
me arrepiento de no habermeenredado
en tus piernascuando no te querías ir
-para que más tardeno quisieras-.
HE VUELTO a echarlo de menos hoy.
No a ti cuando me querías.
A mí cuando te quería.
A eso.
De nuevo.
Hoy.

Friend, Amigo.
Carta a un amigo
Friend, amigo,
quisiera volar, para llegar hasta tu lado
intercambiar miradas
sentir el roce de tu mano,
tu sonrisa llegando a mis labios.
Te contaría:
dejé caer las columnas que soportaban
mi anatómica vida,
me largué por senderos que no conocía
he corrido entre brasas,
sacándome espinas hasta de las entrañas
llorando por los rincones de esta ciudad
por donde
el sol, solo está de paso.
Vi perderse mis sueños
por habitaciones de casas ocupadas,
la luna callaba, la hoguera ardía,
un patio, los Metallica sonaban
buenos amigos y amigas
risas cantándole a la vida.
Hice las paces con mi pasado,
Seven Sisters
Friend, amigo
barajé una baraja
con demasiadas sombras en muros,
me lancé a sus calles, a pedir auxilio.
Me salvé de la quema
de los que odian
por venir de tierra lejana.
Dibujaban espejos negros
en el agujero de mi mano,
no paraba de llover sobre mi tejado,
el paraguas se fue con el viento
sola, en el cruce del blues
ojos negros me miraban
me devolvieron la alianza
de esta tierra
verde en su color
blanco en su ritmo
grises son los cuerpos que caminan
por el filo
de
una
aguja.

Who know's? Nobody know's
What happened here, nobody knows
For he who knows feels the great loss
Oh my! My soul feels the pain
Memories of what I behold dearly
A home that welcomed everyone to rest
A great place of true friendship and love
Smiles filling the sky every morning
Never was a trouble soul found
But where are you? My home
For I wish to behold thee again
Never will I see my home again
A home that brought the inner beauty of all things
The gentle heart of mother nature, my home was called
For they who desire more than love arose
The desire of men to achieve greater dreams
With great technology, they are killing my home
My home is dying as time passes by
Fading away like the soul of a lonely man
Listen to the cries of my beloved
They who can only dream of their natural home
But my heart shall forever preserve what is left, my home.

Vimos nuestros rostros reflejados y poco a poco,
No, nunca hubo ángeles, sólo sombras y manos

Domingo:
Tu cálido aliento empaña mi oído
como el invierno una ventana de domingo.
Tu cuerpo ilumina
mi boca;
mi boca
abraza
tu pecho;
tu pecho
cobija
mi miedo.
Tu cuerpo alumbra mi pecho y mi oído;

niño eres y no sabes nada
desde la altura cae un ser
dices levántate ¡vamos!
pero el ser muerto está
y ni siquiera se mueve
abandonó su cuerpo puedes decir ahora
de los mundos sus cielos
setenta millones de mundos habitados
eternidad de tiempo de vida
grandes hermanos
diez mil universos consolidados
maneras de procrear la física
A VECES MUY PARECIDA
la conciencia ve más lejos.
Contar maneras no sabía
tres años contaba
ahora puedes decir
abandonó su cuerpo y sana.
Rubén Frutos Talavera
Me repugna dormir.

We are the new Lost Generation but without the beat, we are the Gone Generation. We will always feel NOSTALGIA for something that we'll never get back: our homes and our families all together again.Don't you worry, because we are gone. London, Grenoble, Brussels... they have our souls now. We don't make any sound, we have got no heartbeats, we are just GONE.

The days passed without an explanation or a witness. Jack was the only one to know the truth, and he kept it for himself. Nobody would believe him; sometimes even he did not believe the facts, what his eyes saw. But he was sure about his intuition, about his rapid conclusion: the bearded man and the man in the white suit had something to do with the bomb. Knowing this, a question suddenly raised from the blackest, the most profound spot of his mind: “Was I supposed to die, too?”. This realization took Jack to another one: the man with the white suit saw him, and not only once as it seems, but before… “Have we ever met before?”…What if he now wants to see me again? What if he knows I know about him? What if wants to kill me because I know? How can I escape from that? The smell of the apple pie his mother was cooking almost made him vomit.
“Darling, this is ready to eat!”
“I’m not eating it”
“Why, honey? This is your favorite food. I’ve made it especially for you”
“…I’m not eating it, ma. Just leave me alone”
“Okay sweetie…”
He didn’t tell his mother about the accident, she only knew about it because of the newspaper. “Oh, that’s unfortunate!”, that’s everything she said. “You cannot ever guess how unfortunate was it, ma. I was there. I was supposed to die there, too. But I didn’t, and now there are a lot of things I know that I’d rather not know…”
“Ma.”
“Huh, my love?”
“Ma you said once that I was born the same day that father died.”
“Yes, you did! It was a divine sign. What kind of sign I cannot tell. I guess that it was a kind of way of your father to tell me: ‘Hey Mary, this is me, this is my son. I reckon that’s why I called you Jack.”
“Can you tell me more stories about him? I like when you tell me about him.”
“What stories, honey? You know everything.”
“Then repeat them, please.”
He needed to think about any other thing, he was trying it. He liked the way his mother talked about the old times, when “everything has its own place”. Everything but one thing. He
sometimes asked his mother if she could talk about his dead father, but he cannot tell if she couldn’t or if she didn’t want to. She only sighed, looked through the window and remained quiet, silent for a while. As soon as she could, her mother changed the conversation into trivial things: the neighbors, the gossips she heard at the market, a new recipe she got from a friend. Since Jack was a child, he could not understand why his father left him, why everybody else had a mom and a dad but not him. He was alone in the world.
“…and the he came to your grandparents’ house to ask for permission to marry me, and we did marry.”
Her mother was telling the story from the beginning; it always was the same story, although Jack could tell that she used to change some things sometimes: places, dates, people…
“…And now we’re getting close to the end, you know what happens next. Few days after your birth – and I will always remember this, there is no day in which I don’t think about this- a man came, very good-looking and smiley, and brought to us your father’s medal and a flag. I recall I found it very rude of the man to be dressed without any sign of mourning, but I don’t know, I reckon that’s army stuff and has nothing to do with a simple housewife…”
“What d’you mean about “any sign of mourning”?”
“I don’t know, maybe it has to do with the military rank, but this man was dressed totally in white”
Jack was shocked.
“White? He was a verygoodlookingandsmileymandressedtotallyinwhite?”
“Yes, he was. But Oh! Don’t feel bad, sweetie. It was just that. He was very kind to me.”
“D’you remember his name?”
“He did not introduce himself…he said he was one of your father’s friends…”
“He said no name? Can you describe him?”
“Why?”
“Just describe him, ma. Maybe he appears in one of father’s pictures.”
“There are NO pictures of your father, Jack, I have told you THOUSANDS of times. And I will not waste my time speaking about a man I never saw again. And this is the end of the argument; I won’t tell you anything else.”
“. . . Have we ever met before? . . .”
