The Marvell/Elaine schools and Boys, Girls, Adults Community Development Center figured out some time ago that art was not a luxury but an essential in the schools and the community. Art in its many forms introduces creativity, self-expression and different forms of communication into the education process. In the wider community, art instills pride in workmanship and achievement. The ancients
knew all of that, which is why we still stand in awe at the architectural and artistic achievements of workers and artisans thousands of years ago that still stand. BGACDC's 18-39 Leadership Team has sought to make the BGACDC headquarters, its Best Food in Town restaurant and the city of Marvell destinations for murals and showcases for other forms of artistic expression. Their idea is to make BGACDC a visual arts hub for elementary, high school and local artists to create and display their art.
A giant mural highlighting the Leadership Team's vision adorns the eastern side of the BGACDC's headquarters on Highway 49 in Marvell, AR. Painted by a young artist from Earle, AR the mural was designed with the help of the BGACDC Leadership Team. Another mural highlighting the restaurant Best Food in Town inside the building will soon grace the western wall, and art work by Marvell elementary and high school students will be placed on the restaurant walls.
