PRESS RELEASE After the success of the 2013/2014 Edition, it is with great enthusiasm that Areacreativa42 announces the official opening for applications for the third edition of ART PRIZE CBM 2015/2016 (Carlo Bonatto Minella Prize) dedicated to Carlo Bonatto Minella (1855-1878), Piedmontese and virtuous artist of The Albertina Academy of Arts of Turin. In this new edition the president of Areacreativa42, Karin Reisovà, wanted to give the Prize an international dimension, thanks to the strong growth of the Association and the desire to provide artists with new opportunities. The commitment is once again to accompany the selected artists in a path of growth and enhancement of their work: Areacreativa42 decided this year to achieve the goal by means of prestigious collaborations. Among these, the collaboration with the famous publisher Umberto Allemandi & C. for the realisation of the catalogue. The awards of painting, sculpture, photography and performance will be divided into the categories under 30 yo and over 30 yo, while for the video art a single winner will be decreed. The two winners and 40 finalists will be rewarded with the opportunity to exhibit at Casa Toesca, prestigious seat of Areacreativa42 and in the historic Villa Vallero, in Rivarolo Canavese (Turin). The real news, however, is the involvement of Christine Park Gallery in the heart of London and the gallery Art Salon S of Prague, located at the Dancing House, famous all over the world and masterpiece by architect Frank Gehry, which both will host the winners and a selection of finalists.

In addition, the winner of the video art section will showcase his work in the magnificent rooms of the Pinacoteca of the Academy Albertina of Arts in Turin and in the young and proactive space of NoD Gallery in Prague. After having Vittorio Sgarbi as president of the previous edition, Areacreativa42 has selected an international and eclectic jury, so as to enable a diverse style and a moment of real comparison for artists, led by Karin Reisovà, organizer of the Prize. It is confirmed the presence of Antonio D'Amico, artistic director, and Guido Curto, director of the Pinacoteca of The Academy Albertina of Arts in Turin. Prominent is the figure of Jiri Machalický, director of the Prague NoD Gallery and curator of important exhibitions of contemporary art and historical context, including, in the last exhibition at Museum Kampa in Prague, Jiri Kolar. The jury also includes Sharokh Koussari, collector and lawyer specialised in art law in London and gallery director Christine Park of London, and Barbora Mastrlova director of the Gallery Art Salon S Prague, giving a new and strong energy to the prize crossing international borders. As in the previous editions artists are asked to express their arts on the subject having originated from a work by Carlo Bonatto Minella; to this end, the artistic director, Antonio D'Amico, taking origin from the painting at GAM (Gallery of Modern Art) in Turin, “The religion of the deceased”, has chosen the theme "Space. Inside and outside the limits ", which developed in a contemporary key and according to the instructions provided in the notice, will be an inspiration for the participants. BRIEF HISTORY OF THE GROWTH OF A PRIZE It was founded in 2010 by the initiative of Areacreativa42 and the Albertina Academy of Arts of Turin to commemorate the talented artist Carlo Bonatto Minella (1855-1878). Since the first Edition there has been many surprises. Albeit with only 100 participants, the Prize has proved to be of great quality: the winner, Alessandro Cardinale, won in a few months the International Biennial of Beijing too. Areacreativa42 decided to continue the adventure, organizing the Second Edition of the Award on 2013/14 and 100 members became 900 in a few months, of which 823 allowed. The figure of Vittorio Sgarbi and his enthusiasm, the

careful selection of the artists and the will to mature with them, the commitment and the constant attention of Areacreativa42 have allowed an exciting growth path for the prize. A new step edition by edition. CARLO BONATTO MINELLA Of humble family, succeeded with many sacrifices to attend the Royal Albertina Academy of Arts in Turin, a student from 1869 of Gamba E. and A. Gastaldi which saw his promising quality. Its activity is traceable within the short span of eight years, before the untimely death: in the beginning he tried his hand with historical subjects of academic tradition (Andrea Vesalio, shown at the Promotrice of Torino of1876), moving to the sacred themes (Deposition of Christ, parish of Frassinetto), to portraits and figure studies (Thoughtful, Turin, Galleria Civica d'Arte Moderna). In recent works he also tried orientalist and classicist iconography (Jewish Women, 1877; Judith, 1877; The religion of the deceased, 1878, Turin, Galleria Civica d'Arte Moderna), trying to find an internalized measure with the choice of soft colors, to enhance a feeling of suffused malin-coins. Tributes to the figure of the artist were offered at the Turin Exposition of 1892 and at the Venetian retrospective of 1922. AREACREATIVA42 ASSOCIAZIONE CULTURALE

The Cultural Association Areacreativa42 was born in 2008 and it’s located at Casa Toesca, in the historic centre of Rivarolo Canavese (Turin). The purpose of Areacreativa42 is to promote and value historic and contemporary art, with a particular attention to new generations, by creating educational paths for admiring important works by great artists. The eighteen-century’s house Casa Toesca is composed of many areas around an enchanting garden. Casa Toesca is the ideal place to host cultural events, meeting,

exhibitions and workshops of art techniques. There are five showrooms over two floors in the main house; then there’s the “limonaia”, a small house used as a showroom, atelier and art studio. The activity of Areacreativa42 has been consolidated during the years, in Italy and abroad, with important collaborations with curators, embassies, artistic institutions and other cultural associations. Christine Park Gallery exhibits works by established and emerging international contemporary artists. Located in the heart of London's Fitzrovia, the Gallery is dedicated to the discovery of new, locally emerging talents, whilst also exhibiting works from internationally acclaimed artists. The extensive programme of solo shows, conceptually curated group exhibitions and special installations of new art

projects are intended to expand the boundaries of the current contemporary art scene. Aiming to build a fresh and dynamic platform for contemporary art, the Gallery encourages cross-cultural exchange with the audience, in addition to being a commercial space that artists can use as a canvas to realise their projects and present their new works to the public.

ART SALON S Art Salon S is a dynamic, diverse and creative gallery based in Prague. The aim Art Salon S is to support and continually seek talented young artists from the Czech Republic and abroad. Making their work available to the general public. Connecting the everyday world with the world of art and raise the publics interest in contemporary art, promising young artists and a diversity of styles …. The gallery also maintains and continually expands its art Collection, who’s works starts with the Czech modernism. Art Salon S is housed in Microna, which is the most dominant building in Prague’s Modřany. In addition to the gallery there is also a project supporting young artists renting out studios. Works of art are glorified here. Specific conditions are created to bring out their uniqueness. Showcasing aesthetics, images and techniques requires know-howě as well as passion.
