Sebel Sydney Manly Beach by In Design International

► Sebel Sydney Manly Beach, a landmark hotel in central Manly, Sydney, has undergone a significant renovation by designer Penny del Castillo of In Design International. The accommodation suites, public spaces and pool areas have been transformed with locally inspired textures, patterns and materials that capture the essence of Manly’s chic coastal lifestyle. In the lobby, a palette of timber and white sets the tone for the rest of the refurbishment. Throughout, details and embellishments in natural tones ensure an elegant yet relaxed aesthetic. Holism Retreat by Studio Tate

▲ Studio Tate’s design for Holism Retreat interprets the transformative process of the wellness experience as a journey from rough-cut texture to polished gem. The spa, located at MGallery by Sofitel, Hotel Chadstone in Melbourne, offers customers a sanctuary and encompasses treatment rooms, an LED light therapy room, a yoga studio and guest amenities. Arched thresholds and curved walls create a strong formal rhythm as customers move through the spa. Muted hues and the textures of pink granite and brass accents complement this refined formal expression. Soft recessed lighting and concealed joinery ensure the skilfully composed space is both calming and restorative. Photography — Lillie ThompsonStudio Tate — studiotate.com.au
