Law About the course The study of Law is ideal for anyone who is interested in the diverse and ever changing society in which we live. Students will cover topics essential for understanding law and the legal system, and how it operates in society. This is complemented by extra-curricular activities, such as a visit to Parliament and the Galleries of Justice in Nottingham. The AS course introduces students to law making and the legal system, court structure and procedure, and the concept of liability. At A2 students will develop this understanding, focusing on the area of Criminal Law, and exploring the morality and concepts of law. Course breakdown AS: Unit 1 - Law Making and the Legal System Unit 2 - The Concept of Liability A2: Unit 3 - Criminal Law (Offences against the person) Unit 4 - Criminal Law and Concepts of Law How will I be assessed? All AS and A2 units assessed by external examination, in the summer term. Where can it take me? The course is ideal for those wishing to study Law or related courses at degree level. It is also a useful qualification for those interested in careers in Teaching, Police, Social Services, Media, Business and Probation Services. Previous students have gone on to study Law, Criminology, Nursing, Business and Accounting. Additional minimum entry requirements: B in GCSE English at Higher Tier or English Language.
