    This Standard was prepared by the Joint Standards Australia/Standards New Zealand

    Committee IT/1, Information SystemsInterconnection, to supersede AS 4033.21992.

    This Standard is identical with and has been reproduced from ISO/IEC 10021-2:1996,Information technologyMessage Handling Systems (MHS): Overall architecture and its

    Technical Corrigendum 1: 1998.

    The objective of this Standard is to provide network designers with a definition of the

    overall architecture of a message handling system including abstract models, various

    configurations and naming and addressing issues.

    As this Standard is reproduced from an International Standard, the following applies:

    (a) Its number does not appear on each page of text and its identity is shown only on thecover and title page.

    (b) In the source text this Recommendation/International Standard should read this

    Australian/New Zealand Standard.(c) A full point should be substituted for a comma when referring to a decimal marker.
