PRIVILEGE OF REPORTERS
Senate Rule 71. Provision shall be made for news reporters onthe Senate floor in limited numbers, and in the Senate gallery.Because of limited space on the floor, permanent space islimited to those news agencies which have regularly covered thelegislature, namely: The Associated Press, St.Paul Pioneerpress Dispatch, Star Tribune, Duluth News-Tribune an Herald,Fargo Forum, Rochester Post-Bulletin, St.Cloud Daily Times, WCCOradio, KSTP radio, and Minnesota Public Radio. An additional twospaces shall be provided to other reporters if space isavailable.
One person from each named agency and one person from SenatePublications Office may be present at the press table on theSenate floor at anyone time.
Other news media personnel may occupy seats provided in theSenate gallery.
The Committee on Rules and Administration may, throughcommittee action or by delegating authority to the Secretary,allow television filming on the Senate floor on certainoccasions.
The Secretary of the Senate shall compile and distribute tothe public a directory of reporters accredited to report fromthe Senate floor. The directory must include each reporter'spicture and news organization and a brief biography TheSecretary must issue each accredited reporter an identificationbadge showing the reporter's name and news organization.
