ADULT ENRICHMENT CLASS – Sundays, 11:30am – Opal Room – Begins September 3 – ‘An Inconvenient Sequel: Truth to Power’ is a 4-week class taught by Rev. Mike Eggleston. Those interested in participating are encouraged to watch the movie on their own, if at all possible. We'll view some cuts from the original "An Inconvenient Truth," during the class, make use of study materials, and seek to gain updates on the environmental materials in both movies. All are invited (even if you don’t watch the movie). COMMUNITY DINNERS – 1st and 3rd Mondays, 5:00pm – 6:30pm – Fellowship Hall – The next dinner night is September 18th. For more information on how you can be involved, contact Pastor G at [email protected]. HOME GROUP – You now have two opportunities to attend a home group each week: Mondays at 6:30pm with Jeff Manildi or Thursdays at 6:30pm with Mike Eggleston. BACK-TO-SCHOOL HOT DOG BBQ & ICE CREAM SOCIAL – Sunday, Sep 24, 11:30am – Fellowship Hall – Our annual back-to-school event is going to be a blast! Sign up in the Fellowship Hall so we know how much food to purchase. Ice cream toppings and helping hands are welcome. WORLD COMMUNION SUNDAY – Special Offering – Sunday, Oct 1 – Gifts to World Communion Sunday fund graduate racial-ethnic World Communion Scholarships, with at least one-half of the annual amount reserved for ministries beyond the United States. Donations also provide for undergraduate U.S. Ethnic Scholarship and Ethnic In-Service Training programs. BLESSING OF THE ANIMALS – Sunday, Oct 8 – We conclude the Season of Creation by celebrating all the animals. Pastor G will say a blessing over our beloved companions during the worship service. Small, well-behaved pets are welcome to attend the service. If you would like your larger pets to receive a blessing, you may email a photo to Jeff Manildi at [email protected] by Friday, October 6. Don’t forget to include your pet’s name in the email. COFFEE HOUR – Sundays, 11:15am – Join us in the Fellowship Hall after worship on Sundays for refreshments and conversation. Relax as you meet new people and catch up with long-time friends. FAREWELL CARLY – This week we say good-bye to one of our long time members and consistent volunteers, Carly Ortiz-Lytle. Carly is leaving us to continue her education at UC Davis. During the past few years, Carly has participated in the youth and children’s programs as both a leader and a Sunday school teacher; she is on the Staff Parish Relations Committee; and she attended Annual Conference as a delegate earlier this year. She has stepped up to the task each time she was asked. We’ll miss Carly while she’s away. We wish her all the best and much success as she takes on each new challenge.
