Casablanca Too Much Fun! Crocheted Scarf and Slouch Hat

Materials: Cascade Yarn’s Casablanca: woo l / silk / mohair blend: color #11 2 skeins will make hat and a scarf -60” 7 ½” wide, 45” long 1 skein needed for the scarf only

Crochet Hooks sizes G & I Yarn Needle Gauge: Size G hook: 4 sc = 1”; Size I hook: One Shell Network Pattern repeat 2 ½”. Abbreviations: Sc decrease: Insert hook into next sc and pull up a loop, insert hook into next st to the left and pull up a loop, yarn over and pull through all loops. (2 sc into 1 sc) Shell Network Pattern Row 1: 1 Dc into 6th ch from hook, *skip 2 ch, 5 dc into next ch, skip 2 ch, 1 dc into next ch, ch 1, skip 1 ch, 1 dc into next ch; rep from * to end, turn. Row2: Ch 4 (count as 1 dc and 1 ch), skip first st and next ch, 1 dc into next dc, *skip 2 dc, 5 dc into next dc, skip 2 dc, 1 dc into next dc, ch 1, skip 1 ch, 1 dc into next dc; rep from * ending last rep in 2nd ch of turning chain, turn. Repeat Row 2 for pattern. SCARF With I hook, chain 30. Work in Shell Network Pattern to desired length, leaving enough yarn to complete another row. Cut yarn and use remaining on beginning end of scarf to mirror image the pattern to make both of the scarf ends similar. Weave in all ends. HAT With size G hook, ch 84, join being careful not to twist stitches. Work 6 rows of sc increasing in the last row to 96 sts. Change to I hook. Begin Shell Network Pattern ( There will be 12 shells) Row 1: Ch 4, skip 1 sc, dc in next sc, * skip 2 sc, 5 dc in next sc, skip 2 sc, 1 dc in next sc, ch 1, skip 1 sc, dc in next sc* rep between *’s across row, ending last repeat with a sl st into beg turning chain after the last shell. Do not turn. Row2: Ch 4 (count as 1 dc and 1 ch), skip first st and next ch, 1 dc into next dc, *skip 2 dc, 5 dc into next dc, skip 2 dc, 1 dc into next dc, ch 1, skip 1 ch, 1 dc into next dc; rep from * ending last rep with a sl st into beg turning chain after the last shell. Do not turn. Repeat Row 2 until 13 pattern rows have been completed. (about 9” from beg). Crown: Row 1: Ch 1, *sc in ch 1 space, sc in 1st dc of next shell, sc in 3rd dc of shell, sc in 5th dc of shell* rep be-tween *’s around. . Join with sl st to 1st sc. (48 sc) Row 2: Ch 1, Work sc decreases around (24 sc) Row 3, 4, & 5: Repeat row 2. (12, 6, 3 sc). Cut yarn leaving long end to close hole and fasten off.
