ASC Winter Junior and Beginner Sailing:

Following the success of the Discover Sailing Day and the Fisher, Petersen, Tillett Regatta, we have gained approval to continue our program on the Pat. The target group is new and developing juniors and senior members wishing to introduce their children into sailing in an unstructured supportive environment.

Please note this date in your diary and consider making yourself available for a position on the Board or the Committee. Further information will be sent to Members soon.

Newsletter opportunity

We have maintained a weekly newsletter all season since September. We will continue with this until at least presentation night. Over the next 3 weeks, an invitation is extended to classes to do a short “wrap up of their season” to be published to all our members. Please get this to Malcolm at [email protected] by Tuesday night for publication on the Wednesday.

Following Presentation Night the Club Newsletter will continue but will change to a monthly or on an “as needs basis” until September.

Winter Sailing

Adelaide will not be conducting regular racing through winter. Instead, we are available to run class based events. Have your class consider running some training / short course training / social events and talk with us. We are available to accommodate Class led events of this nature. We have found this a more productive use of volunteer and sailor time in the past.

We resume regular sailing with the September Hot Up Series on Saturdays through September.

2019 / 2020 Sailing Season

Yes, this season is barely finished and we are already planning next year. Please promote Adelaide for State programming within your class. Liaise with Malcolm Hughes, Hubert Tucker and Peter Royle re your class program.

Finn end of season Wrap-Up

The Adelaide Finn fleet continues to evolve. We now have a fleet of nine boats and we

nearly always get a full compliment on Saturdays which makes for interesting and very close

racing.

Adelaide will be hosting the Finn Nationals next January so now is the time to start thinking

whether a Finn might be the way to go, especially if you are at a loose end sailing wise. Finn

Nationals are very interesting events with an interesting mix of competitors, including

Olympic level sailors, up and coming juniors and very keen master’s sailors.

The silverware has been shared around this year. Dirk won the Legends division in the very

windy Black Rock Nationals, Danny won a closely fought SA State Championship and Neville

won the Club Championship.
