1. OBJECTIVE
Objective:
To provide platform for students to showcase their talents with a competitive
spirit.
To provide an arena for students to test their technical, professional and
business communication skills
To enhance students’ interpersonal skills, team spirit, multi-tasking and time
management skills
To inculcate qualities likes sense of responsibility, self confidence and
leadership among student fraternity
2. BRIEF OF
SYMPOSIUM
Brief of Symposium
In line with our tradition to make students responsible citizens of this
country, we, the Department of MCA organized State Level Technical
Symposiums ASCEND 2K18 on 20th
and 21st February 2018.
This Technical Symposium was held for the budding graduates to showcase
their talent and skills under one roof and also to have a feel of the sporting spirit
among all the graduate students from different locations. Since year 2014,
Department of MCA has been providing such important platform by organizing
this Symposium, “ASCEND”, under banner of student association, ABACUS
Club.
Every year, hundreds of students from different locations take part in this
symposium. Last year we had received overwhelming response from nearby cities
and same is continued this year as well. This year we had registered more than 390
participants. Participants were from various locations across Maharashtra like
Sinnar, Dhule, Lasalgaon, Nashik etc. Student Participants were highly satisfied by
all the facilities and technical support furnished for various competitions. Brief
Report for 20th and 21
st February, 2018 is given below with list of winners,
Photographs and Media Flashes.
Prof. R. A. Gangurde and Prof. P. G. Fegade were the Co-convener for
ASCEND 2K18. The entire faculty team of Department of MCA along with
current batch students planned this symposium with singular agenda of ability for
lifelong learning to help young aspirant to showcase their hidden talent with true
spirit of sportsmanship.

Day 1: 20th
February, 2018 Tuesday
Mr. Arvind Mahapatra, CEO, Netwin Infosolutions Pvt. Ltd., Nashik was the Chief
Guest for the inauguration ceremony. Prof. Dr. K. N. Nandurkar, Principal,
KKWIEER, Dr. S. S. Sane, Vice-Principal, KKWIEER, Prof. S. S. Jhawar,
Coordinator, Department of MBA-MCA, Dr. V. C. Bagal, Head, Dept. of MCA
and Convener of ASCEND 2K18 were the dignitaries for the inauguration
ceremony.
Inauguration ceremony started with the welcome speech by Dr. V. C. Bagal. She
highlighted the importance and objectives of this symposium. She guided the
participants for their future planning.
Prof. P. G. Fegade introduced Chief Guest Mr. Arvind Mahapatra. Dr. K. N.
Nandurkar felicitated the Chief Guest by offering Momento and flower bouquet.
Prof. S. S. Jhawar addressed the audience about the theme of ASCEND 2K18 that
is to tribute our Indian Culture. He has addressed the participants regarding history
of Indian armed forces along with categories like Indian Army, Indian Navy and
Indian Air Force and roles and functionalities of each. He has conveyed that we
are very fortunate just because of Indian armed forms as “we sleep and they stay
awake for us” which is the tag line of ASCEND 2K18.
Dr. S. S. Sane guided the participant through his motivating speech. He had
enlightened the features of MCA Programme.
Dr. K. N. Nandurkar addressed the audience regarding institutes running under K.
K. Wagh Education Society’s. There are 8 Engineering UG courses and 6 PG
courses with an annual intake of 1068. According to the ranking published by
National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF), MHRD, Government of India,
K. K. Wagh Institute of Engineering Education and Research, Nashik has been
ranked 9th in the state of Maharashtra and 85
th amongst all Engineering institutes of
the country.
Mr. Arvind Mahapatra graced the function with his motivating speech. In his
speech, he has shared his experience from college life to corporate life. He has
provoked students for how to become successful in life from enlightening
opportunities. He also appealed the students to participate in such technical
symposiums. He extended his best wishes to student participants and host institute
for present and future endeavors.
Prof. R. A. Gangurde, co-convener delivered vote of thanks.
At ASCEND 2K18, we organized various technical events like Code Breakers,
Poster Competition, Quiz Maze, Ludo, Selfie Mania, Counter Strike, Treasure
Hunt.
After Inauguration of ASCEND 2K18, following competitions were held on first
day: Code Breakers, Poster Competition, Ludo and Treasure Hunt.
Day 2: 21st February, 2018-Thursday
On second day of ASCEND 2K18, following competitions were held: Counter
Strike, Selfie Mania, Quiz Maze, Ludo.
For every competition, 2 winners and for some competitions, 2 consolation
winners i.e. total 22 winners were awarded as shown in following prize distribution
table.

Following seven competitions were organized in ASCEND 2K18:

Day 1
On 20th
February 2018, following events were conducted:
1. Code Breakers Single Participant
Entry Fees: Rs. 50/- per head
Student Co-ordinator: Purushottam Rajdev - 9923103246
It is a unique programming competition where participant needs to write the
program in C/C++ language for the given problem with the monitor kept off. This
activity mainly tests concentration, accuracy, programming skills. Problem
statement is given to the participant on the spot. The developers don’t need a
screen or anything when they start their scripting. They just create the code in mind
and run their fingers on the keyboard. This is one of the best technical event in
which maximum number of students participated among the crowd. Almost 90
students from different colleges had participated. Only individual entry allowed in
this event. No internet-aid will be provided. No gadgets allowed in the laboratory.
This code buster comprises of 4 rounds namely
Round 1: MCQs on C and C++
Round 2: Tracing the Output
Round 3: Blind Coding (Monitor Off)
Round 4: Program Statement.
2. Poster Presentation
Single or Team [2 Members]
Entry Fees: Rs .50/-per head
Co-ordinator: Sonali Taskar - 8379964464
In this competition, student can show their idea/thought through the canvas.
Standard sized poster (chart paper) is to be used. Stickers are not allowed on the
poster. Participant has to explain the poster within 2 to 5 minutes to the judge in
brief. The Theme for the competition was: Indian Culture. Around 14 students
have participated in poster competition.
3. Treasure Plum 1 Team [5 Members]
Entry Fees: Rs. 50/- per head
Co-ordinator: Revati Ghuge - 8482981006
It offers a fast paced, fun packed mystery to students with a tinge of ‘technical’ challenges. Conducted within the college premises, Treasure Plum is a simple trail
with a series of clues, one leading to the next, until group reaches last location of
that round. The type of clues provided and difficulty level increases with each
round
As this is the event in which no students worry about what and how it will going to
happen .With full enthusiasm, energy and in the full sunny day, the students were
running here and there without any resistance. The participant needs to aim just to
complete the given task. Around 50 students participated in this event.
4. Ludo
1 Team [5 Members]
Entry Fees: Rs .50/-per head
Co-ordinator: Nikhil Raut – 9975915171
A team will be out only 6 times, after that no one can out them. When 2 player of
same team comes at same unsafe place then no one can out them. One of the team
participants is fixed to throw a die and will give instructions to other team mates. If
found that other than him/her is instructing then the score on the die will be
eliminated. Around 60 students participated in this event.
Day 2
On 21st February 2018, following events were conducted
5. Selfi Mania Single Participant
Entry Fees: Rs. 50/- per head
Co-ordinator: Kanchan Gavali – 8446605605
Based on the theme, participant need to click photograph from mobile and send
through email to the event coordinator. In this competition participant can show
there photographic skills. Only mobile-based selfie is allowed in this event. Edited
selfie is straight away discarded. Around 8 students participated in this event.
6. Quiz Maze

Entry Fees: Rs. 50/-per head

This is the event where only the fastest, the brightest and the smartest student can
survive. Near about 100 students were participated in this event.
The event comprises of 4 rounds: Paper Round, Logo Round, Rapid Fire Round
and Buzzer Round. At each round, participants will be eliminated. Topics would be
technical, non-technical, current affairs and G.K. Around 45 students participated
in this event.
7. Counter Strike 1.6 1 Team [5 Members]
Entry Fee: Rs.50/-per head

Polish your gaming skills…!! So, be ready to put your enemy down in the counter-
strike live gaming war zone. In this event participant will ready and make their
Team as Terrorists or Counter-Terrorists.
The event was following rounds. Round 1: Dust 2. Round 2: Train. Round 3
(Final): Disclosed on spot. In case of tie, a tie-breaker (knife) round will be played.
Around 30 students participated in this event.
