USDA Method'"-

(Ash On Bagasse)

1. Weigh 109'" of sample in a pre-weigh crucible.

2. Moisten the sample with approximately 2ml'~ conc. H2SO4.3. Heat gently on hot plate or oven until sample carbonizes.

4. Place the crucible in a muffle furnace at 5500 C for 2 hrs.,5. Remove the dish from muffle; cool and add a few drops of

H2SO4.

6. Place the crucible back to the muffle, heat to 8000 C inthe muffle furnace for 10 to 15 minutes.

7. Cool the dish in dessicator and weigh.
