Purpose of Site Orientation This purpose of this presentation is to

provide information to contactors regarding

Energizer's general safety rules of conduct

while performing work at our Asheboro

Facilities. This is in accordance with our

contactor safety compliance requirements.

Emergency Exits Know your closest emergency exits to your

work area. Signs are posted throughout the

facility to indicate primary and secondary exit

points.

Contractors must wear a photo ID badge while

performing work at this facility.

The badge must be visible at all times.

Safety Glasses

ANSI approved safety glasses with side shields are required at all times in production and maintence areas and associated isles. Splash goggles, sides shields, or other PPE, may be required when performing hazardous task. Safety glasses are Required when performing any maintence tasks.

Hearing Protection Required:

Plant 1 = Metal Parts Department and Gray & Red floor production areas. Plant 2 = All Production areas.

Tools and Equipment Tools equipped with lasers must NOT have a rating higher than a Class II. This includes, but

not limited to pointers and leveling devices.

Fall Protection

The need for fall protection arises when there is work at elevated heights

(4 feet or higher) where there are “fall hazards”.

Examples include:

Such actions as work on open sided platforms or floors, work on top of

unguarded tanks, enclosures, pipes, or railroad cars, work at ceiling or

rafter level, climbing on equipment to gain access to fixtures, valves,

filters, or other for work above a 4 ft. elevation, or climbing out of, or

leaning out of a scissors lift platform.

Training in fall protection must include:

• Daily harness inspections

• A rescue plan (if person falls, retrieval must

occur within 15 minutes, then first aid or medical

attention must be administered) 12

Job Safety and Health Analyses

You may be asked to review a Job Safety and

Health Analysis (JSHA) for specific work that

you are performing. These documents

provide procedural safety information for your

protection. Please review these documents

carefully. If a JSHA is not available for a task

that you are performing, then a JSHA may

need to be written before work begins.

Power Industrial Vehicles

This facility utilizes powered industrial vehicles such as

fork trucks, electric hand trucks, High‐jackers, and

sweepers as well as AGV’s (automatic guided vehicles;

robotic fork trucks). Always maintain your awareness for

these vehicles, especially at aisle intersections.

Technicians

This includes welders, roofers, painters, construction,

HVAC, movers, system installers, equipment service

tech, etc.

ARE REQUIRED TO FOLLOW OSHA AND EBM

SAFETY GUIDELINES AND REQUIREMENTS.

General Information

Contractor Storage

Energizer may provide areas for storing material & equipment.

Each contractor and subcontractor must provide a means to secure such

items.

Flammable liquids

Must be stored in an approved container at a safe distance from buildings and

must have the approval of the EBM Environmental Coordinator prior to storing

Gasoline or Diesel Engines

Are not permitted to be used in the facility without proper approval

(contact your ECR).

Overhead Work

Is not permitted in occupied areas over EBM employees or other

contractors without proper approval (contact your ECR). 17

General Information

Guards and Safety Devices

DO NOT OPERATE EQUIPMENT WITHOUT GUARDS IN PLACE.

DO NOT OPERATE EQUIPMENT WITH SAFETY DEVICES BYPASSED

Working on Moving or Energized Equipment - Work on equipment that is

moving or energized is STRICTLY PROHIBITED

Working on Energized Equipment - You must meet LOTO requirements

before work can begin

Ladders - Conductive ladders are prohibited from EBM property.

Fiberglass ladders must be used.

Scaffolding - The use of scaffolding must comply with all standards set forth in

OSHA

Equipment Loan Agreement

Business needs may permit contractors to use Energizer’s

equipment, subject to terms contained in the “Equipment

Loan Agreement” form. (OHB 809)

This agreement acknowledges that the contractor:

a) Is trained, or has qualified operators, to use of the equipment

b) Will return the equipment in good and safe working condition

c) Will report any defects, damage, or loss of equipment

d) Assumes liability for its use

This agreement is available through your ECR or purchasing representative.

Hazardous Work Permits are REQUIRED for the following types of

Confined Spaces

Grinding

or any other spark

producing work

Elevated Work

Moving Radioactive

Material

Operating

Equipment around

power lines

Opening equipment that

contains pressurized

materials

Electrical Systems

Working on or near the area.

MUST be at zero energy

Roof Work / Fall Protection

If working within 6ft of the edge.

Hazardous Chemicals

The Material Safety Data Sheet, sometimes called OSHA Form 20,

must be obtained and furnished by you for any chemical you would like

to bring into our facility. The MSDS must be provided to the ECR and

then forwarded to and approved before the chemical can be brought onto

EBC property. Please review the use of all chemicals brought on site with

your ECR. All chemicals must clearly display a chemical hazard label.

‘Check all chemicals, do not assume a chemical is safe, check it out.’

Asbestos Awareness

Asbestos containing Materials (ACM) are found

in the following areas of Art Bryan (Plant 2);

12”X12” or 9”X9” floor tiles and mastic in the

main cafeteria and kitchen, main employee

entrance, under servers in MIS, Betty Connor’s

office, mix blow-up control room.

TSI covering at pipe elbows on mezzanine above

plant manager’s or purchasing offices.

These floor tiles and TSI covering must not be

drilled into, removed, or disturbed in any way. 22
