Think Local First! is

Asheboro Magazine’s shoplocal initiative. It is our goalto encourage our readers

to patronize local merchants asoften as possible. We understand

that there are things that can notbe purchased locally and it wouldbe unreasonable to believe that

Asheboro, or any other city ortown for that matter, can satisfyeveryone’s wants and needs.

Understanding this, we ask thatbefore you make a purchase of anykind out of town or on the Internetthat you Think Local First.

In thinking local first, think about all the aspects of shopping

elsewhere like the cost of fuel orshipping and handling charges. At

first, it may seem like you are getting a better dealsomewhere else, but a closer examination may helpyou determine that the small amount you’ll save isn’tworth the effort. Remember, your time is valuable, too. If you factor your time, cost of gas, wear and tearon your vehicle and the adverse affect spending yourmoney elsewhere has on the local economy, shopping here in Asheboro is a “No Brainer”.

Shopping local is important because far more of themoney spent at local businesses is reinvested in yourcommunity. This helps other local businesses, whichcreates greater diversity and helps the communitymaintain its unique appeal. Shopping local isenvironmentally friendly, too: it creates less traffic andpollution. So, before you part with your hard earneddollars...Think Local First!
