Ashley and Martin were married on July 25, 2009 in Vancouver, BC. The couple worked with Event Planner Geneve McNally from DREAMGROUP PRODUCTIONS from start to finish for their “sexy, elegant, fun and chic” affair. Ashley wore a Pronovias gown from ISABELLE’S BRIDAL and she had two very special items to represent her ‘something borrowed.’ The first was a pair of vintage chandelier diamond earrings on loan from her Grandmother. During the ceremony, Ashley’s ring (which was used for the exchanging of the vows) was one that had been passed down from her Grandmother. The bride and groom had another set of ‘official’ rings from DA MINCCI JEWELLERS.

The wedding reception was held at the home of Ashley’s parents in Richmond, BC. A 5000 square foot tent from APEX

TENTS was transformed into a floral fantasy by Suzane Lee of GRANVILLE ISLAND FLORIST and UPRIGHT DECOR.

During the cocktail hour, guests could pose for fun candids with VANCOUVER

PHOTOBOOTH.

Refreshing signature cocktails (in the bold orange, red and pink colour palette) were delightfully delivered via the four foot tall monogrammed ice luge.

The flower theme was modern and sexy! The flowers used at the wed-ding mainly consisted of cherry brandy roses (a gorgeous pink and orange species) and orange mokara orchids. Table arrangements included cherry brandy roses, orange mokara orchids, pink calla lilies, white phalaenopsis orchids, pink hydrangea, and hot pink lilies.

The most surprising moment of the day? The unpredicted, record breaking thunder and lightening storm that started during the couple’s cocktail hour. Although it came down with a vengeance, it eventually created the most incredible “light show in the sky” with pink and orange illumina-tion on the horizon (quite coincidentally the wedding colours)! As if on cue, an amazing rainbow appeared and could be seen in the sky directly above the din-ner tent. “It was a sign for sure!” remembers Ashley.

CULINARY CAPERS provided a four course sit-down dinner for two hundred guests plus the pre-dinner hors d’oeuvres and late night dessert spread.

The black and white hand painted damask lemon cake by CULINARY CAKES was Ashley’s favourite design detail of the day! It was displayed atop a clear acrylic box filled with orange and red roses.

The tent was illuminated with hot pink lighting and a dramatic damask pattern displayed on the ceiling of the tent. The drama was further enhanced by a one-of-a-kind chandelier created from a collection of long rectangular crystal chandeliers.

The black dance floor featured a custom hot pink monogram and was imported from Alberta. Guests danced the night away to the musical entertainment of Dr. Strangelove (who were the head-lining act at Vancouver’s famed Roxy Nightclub for 13 years).

“Although it’s so hard to pick one favourite moment…the first that comes to mind is being on the dance floor towards the end of the night, surrounded by my closest friends, family, and husband dancing to some of my favourite songs,” reflects the bride.
