of different types of individuals
Jung Characterized people into primary types of psychological functions
Communication style is influenced by personality type
MYERS-BRIGGS TYPE INDICATOR The Myers-Briggs Type Indicator(MBTI)
assessment is a psychometric questionnaire designed to measure psychological preferences in how people perceive the world and make decisions.
First proposed ideas of personality types came from Jung’s book Psychological Types in 1921

ATTITUDES Introvert(I) and Extrovert(E)
Introverted people tend to be centered on their internal world
Extroverts focus more on what is going on around them
SENSING VERSUS INTUITION Sensing(S) and Intuition(I)
Sensing-dominated people tend to ask questions, and are focused on the present
Intuitive people focus on theories rather than details, and the future
THINKING VERSUS FEELING Thinking(T) and Feeling(F)
Thinkers are governed by logic and do not rely heavily on emotion-based words
Feelers will discuss their emotional experiences
JUDGING VERSUS PERCEIVING Judging(J) and Perceiving(P)
Judgers insist upon schedule and rigor and can appear serious and stoic. They are direct and to the point and will center on dates, details and next steps
Perceivers are much more flexible and adaptive but can be disorganized and ineffectual. They will not recall details of what was discussed and will tend to focus on what the other person is saying, rather than what they would like to say next
WHY IMPORTANT? What is effective communication for one
personality type may appear unclear to another
Lack of communication between discordant personalities can lead to marital discord, tumultuous work relationships and broken friendships
